Main Mess Hall Empty Main Mess Hall

Post by Eleanor Harkness Sun Feb 16, 2014 6:15 pm

The large space is bright and clean, with tables and booths scattered throughout the area that are flanked by long rows of food service tables; the booths allow for a more intimate and private conversation area. A grill is nestled in amongst these long rows, and there is a variety of foodstuffs laid out for consumption. Along the farthest wall there are four lengthy cafeteria tables, not nearly as cozy as the booths and smaller seating areas, but designed for larger groups to sit together. The entire room is a mix of stainless steel surfaces, white walls, and dark brown to black chairs and tables.

There are cameras on every angle of the room, and guards stationed at certain positions throughout the room.

===>Helipad

Following the pleasant scent of cooking meat and seasonings, the archer arrived in the mess hall shortly after leaving his favorite napping site on the helipad. The main item on the menu was bbq ribs just as promised and based on the already sizable crowd spread throughout the room, they had turned out rather well. Licking his lips, Cole allowed himself a slight grin and made a beeline for the grill. Grabbing a stainless steel serving tray, he systematically loaded up on rolls, mashed potatoes and corn before finally reaching the meat section. His grin widening a bit, Brandon nodded to the cafeteria worker.

"Yo. Load me up," he said as the man dropped two small racks of ribs onto the former Ranger's tray. His meal fully assembled, Cole exited the food line and made his way to a nearby, unoccupied table. Not quiet as private as one of the booths but after spending all that time out in the open on the helipad Brandon wasn't quiet ready to stuff himself into an enclosed space just yet. Propping his feet up on a neighboring chair, the archer settled back in wait for his lunch partner to join him.

<---------Helipad

After the little incident on the roof, Eleanor was convinced even more that most of VWAT consisted of assholes and hubris, neither of which she cared much for. Glad to be out of their general vicinity, the blonde follows the archer through the maze of halls to the cafeteria, taking note that it wasn't nearly as crowded as it had been in the past, which suited her well; she wasn't in the mood at the moment to deal with a crush of humanity.

Or rather, what passed for humanity here.

Grabbing up a tray - after having to sift through the ones that were still wet - the spy zones in on fruit and a few vegetables, before switching her attention to a bit of bread and then...ribs. they looked good (or at least decent) and she received the same amount as her partner.

Eleanor weaves her way through tables and booths to sit across from her partner, one leg coming to rest on his chair, just behind him. She unscrews the cap of her water bottle and takes a quick drink before making the comment he would be certain to know was coming.

"So, I leave you alone for thirty seconds and you make all sorts of new friends."

She smiles at him, a cheeky sort of snark on her lips that was nothing new to the archer.

Rejoined by the expert in espionage, the archer could only scoff at her commentary. "Yea. Something tells me they're organizing a fan club for me as speak," he said, cutting himself a bite sized piece of rib meat and chowing down. The sauce was good and the meat had a nice char to it with just a bit of kick. Washing it down with a swig from his own water bottle, he busied himself by mixing his mashed potatoes and gravy. "And all I had to do was make a comment on their Team America entrance up there," Cole continued, voice heavy with sarcasm as he flashed a grin across the table.

She took another sip as he spoke, smiling against the bottle's mouth. Finishing up her drink, she spun the lid back on the bottle and watched him mess about with his food for a moment. Taking hold of one end of her tasty looking ribs, she pulls two sections apart and proceeds to eat with both hands, not caring in the least that her fingers were coated in sauce and spice.

His later statement brought a half-grin to her lips, and she dropped her food back to the tray, licking clean her fingers though a napkin sat only an inch or two from her.

"And I sure that was the only comment you made."

Her own sarcasm was lighter, but still biting, and she sucked the last bit of sauce from her index finger before continuing."They were trained, special schools. And with those attitudes, they are either very good or very insecure."

Eleanor picked up an orange and began to peel it as she smiled at her partner.

"Seems you made such dangerous friends." There was a barely contained laugh on her lips that he would know followed up any statement she couldn't utter with entire sincerity.

Working at his ribs once more, the archer's deft fingers worked the knife between meat and bone with surgical precision, separating the tender tissue without leaving any remainder on the stark white bones.  In the back of his mind the sensation was unnervingly familiar.  Though he operated best from medium to long range, in his profession there eventually came a time when you just needed to slip a few inches of steel between some ribs.  Pushing those thoughts aside, he returned his attention to the spy, swallowing another mouthful of meat.

"Oh they're special alright.  And every last one of them is dead set on popping a wheelie with the short bus," he said before rinsing his mouth out with a sip of water.  "That aside, their eyes weren't bad so they might surprise me a bit.  Speaking of which..." Cole continued, pointing his sullied fork at Harkness.  "You notice the shift in numbers?  Cons are dying off all the time but they haven't been replacing them the way they used to.  Somebody's gone back to filling the roster with active duty guys but that's not Steeler's style."

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Brandon Cole Sat Mar 22, 2014 6:00 pm

Though his interest in the sudden shortage of criminals within VWAT persisted, the archer would need to wait on discussing the matter with his partner. Amid the general clatter of the mess hall, pair of light issue boots clicked across the floor towards the table where the twosome now sat. Their owner was a lower ranking member of staff, more than likely a runner reporting to Steeler or one of the higher ranking secretaries. Whatever he was, he was by no means a field agent and his lack of intimidation or presence was put in stark contrast to the experienced soldiers and criminals inhabiting the rest of the base. Reaching the table, the runner saluted by way of introduction before delivering his short message. The Director had requested both Harkness and Cole in his office immediately.

Though he groaned audibly at the news that his lunch had been interrupted, Brandon nodded to the messenger to indicate that he understood the orders. For something less important, the archer wouldn't think much of ignoring the runner completely but this had a bit more weight to it. Steeler wanted a face to face meeting rather than written instructions. Best not keep him waiting too long. Spearing piece of meat on the end of his fork, Cole brushed the utensil across the surface of his plate in an attempt to attach at least a small portion of each side dish to the amalgamation of food. He opened his mouth wide and quickly consumed the savory combination before rising from the table, his tray held in one hand.

"Alright, let's get out of here," he said, depositing his tray alongside the rest of them.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Thu Apr 03, 2014 12:38 am

---------> From Limbo

The mess hall was a bit empty by the time Soo Young had entered, Most of Fort Belvoir's military personnel were off attending to other matters that required their attention or wasting their time in some other section of the base. Around the large room were a few people scattered about the largest concentration being the group of convicts sitting at one of the long cafeteria tables near the end of the room. Grabbing one of the stainless steel trays from the stack sitting at the end of the cafeteria counter she proceeded to move down the near empty line filling her tray with fruit and a salad along with a cold cut turkey sandwich and a bottle of water. Once she'd finished filling her tray she moved to the corner of the room to black table. As she passed many of the room's occupants both convict and soldier alike gave her dirty looks out of the corner of their eyes.

All of them held some measure of distaste for the North Korean, Soldiers for the pure reasons of who she was Seung, Soo Young labeled as one of the world's most notorious terrorists in the world single handedly responsible for hundreds of bombings and thousands of murders around the world. And convicts for the fact that she made the rest of them seem harmless in comparison. As she took her seat Soo Young took a bite of an apple she'd taken from the cafeteria counter. She closed her eyes letting out an inaudible sigh as she heard the scrape of chairs pushing away from tables. There were too many for it to simply be people leaving too synchronized.

The sound of footsteps approaching her table only supported her theories and soon enough she heard a voice speak up. "Too good to sit with the rest of us Seung?" The voice said. Soo Young said nothing merely taking another bite of her apple taking her time in chewing it and swallowing before finally speaking. "You've made your distaste for me blatantly obvious...Why would I waste my time?" Soo Young said opening her eyes to see the leader of a small group of convicts standing beside her his fellows flanking him on both sides in a wasteful attempt to seem intimidating.

The leader of the group merely glowered down at her his arms crossed as he said nothing. Soo Young sighed "If you've nothing more to say...Leave..." Soo Young said taking another bite of her apple. In a split second the tension in the air snapped as one of the convicts behind the leader rushed her brandishing what appeared to be a fork with it's prongs twisted to act as a makeshift shiv. In that same instant Soo Young gripped her tray by it's edge swiping out with it and catching the man across the face with a loud clang. The force of the strike sent the man tumbling to the side crashing over the surface of one of the tables.

Immediately the guards stationed about the room rushed forward a group of them dispersing the other convicts while two dragged away the one who she'd struck with her tray who had been knocked unconscious by the blow. A small group of guards congregated around her but dispersed once it was clear that the act would not be followed with more outbursts of violence as she continued eating the apple still in her hand.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Tue Aug 19, 2014 7:38 am

Enter from Limbo (Apparently)
----------------------------

The accommodations that were provided by Fort Belvoir were rare luxuries compared to what she had grown accustomed to. The cots were far more comfortable than those she had previously spent countless nights in, more spacious and welcoming. However, after having unpacked the essentials within her dufflebag and changed into her civilian clothing, the Night Nine Leader had found herself with an empty stomach. If she had been under normal circumstances, those being if her unit was still under the command of JSOC, which typically kept the Nine Nine Squad out in the field without leave, the situations of which held no tolerance for a trivial thing like hunger, it would never have crossed her mind.

However, seeing as their new station was one that held few commodities that were almost foreign to her, she was going to abuse the fact that a Mess Hall was actually present on base and steal a meal to tide her over until Aiden awakened from the slumber she had choked him into. He was buying the entire unit dinner, after all. Remembering the scene with perfect clarity, she could accurately conclude that him opening his eyes anytime soon was highly unlikely given the amount of pressure she had put behind the hold. She held no sympathy for him, however, as it was his own fault for losing his mind in such a bizarre manner in the presence of what was essentially their new boss. It did poorly in regards to showing their professionalism.

She gave an unconscious shrug as the thought drifted off into nothingness, taking solace in the fact that the bruised windpipe would prevent anything like that from happening again, especially when she was present. Then again, with her mind dabbling in thoughts related to her squad mates, she had come to remember that Jensen had been recalled from the VWAT Initiative and placed back on active duty for JSOC, leaving only three of the initial four members that had been picked to work for the secret organization. Again, the thought was casually shrugged off. Three of them were still enough for nearly any job they would be provided. Even then, Zulu was being sent on a mission at this very moment, so hopefully he wouldn't disappoint her.

That would likely lead to another viciously bruised windpipe and another bed in the medical bay being occupied for quite some time.

Upon arriving at the Mess Hall, all previous thoughts were placed at the back of her ever-alert mind and an extended hand easily parted the doors to allow her entrance. A low whistle of sarcastic amazement escaped her still smirked lips as she gazed around the cafeteria, taking note of all the security cameras, guards, and other individuals. In fact, it looked as though she had just missed quite the spectacle given the positioning of the guards around a single female who was currently enjoying an apple and another male currently sprawled out on the floor next to an overturned table.

My, my... Things just never get dull around here, do they? First that interesting little Misha on the helipad and now a cafeteria skirmish between the meat-shields?" Her shoulders shrugged slightly as a sigh escaped her lips, her head shaking slightly at the helplessness of the situation. Guess it's to be expected. This is an organization assigned with the eradication of supernatural creatures, after all. No rest for the wicked, as the saying goes.

Approaching the grill, snagging one of the metal trays on her way over, she began to pile it the few items present in the selection that she thought might be enjoyable; those being a few ribs, a turkey sandwich, and a couple of the fruits before turning back to find a place to eat. Eying the Korean woman with a hint of amusement, a subtle shrug signaled her own detached feelings about what could possibly transpire and made her way towards the table, offering a nod to the several guards as she took a seat across from the woman and her apple, her smirk still present on her lips.

Deciding give at least a mock attempt at courtesy, she'd speak in the Korean's native tongue.

"Nan dangsin-i hoesaleul nappeuge saeng-gaghaji anh-ass eumyeon?"

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Tue Aug 19, 2014 4:59 pm

Having finished her apple Soo Young threw the core of the apple a short distance into a nearby waste basket. After he recent outburst she doubted her guards would want her to go anywhere for a while so instead she chose to remain seated. Her eyes wandered about the room trying to find any subject of interest that could ease the boredom that had settled over her. Finally her eyes fell upon a new arrival to the mess hall. It was a woman who judging from appearances was perhaps in her late 30s or early 40s.

The interest was short lived however as Seung's eyes drifted away as she propped her cheek against her palm and shut her eyes breathing out a small sigh. After her recent excursion into the fitness center of the base that left about 20 soldiers bruised and injured she was sure she wasn't welcome back there any time soon. She also wasn't permitted to use the shooting range without being under strict supervision mainly due to the fact that most of the bases' personnel didn't trust the ex-terrorist with access to any kind of weapon. She was even denied permission to use a fork to eat her meals with as many seemed to believe that she could kill someone with it.

Their concerns weren't without reason though considering she likely could do so quite easily. Soo Young's inner thoughts were interrupted however as she sensed yet another person watching her. She opened one eye to see the woman she'd spotted before approaching with a tray laden with food. Seung frowned as she felt her stomach growl slightly she was used to going certain periods without food but that didn't mean that she was exempt from feeling hunger like anyone else. Her eyes followed the woman until she sat down across from her. She could see the guards around her tense up likely expecting another outburst of violence from Seung.

"I hope you don't mind the company" The woman said in fluent Korean. Seung shook her head giving the woman a small smirk of her own "Dangsin-i bol su-issneun jeonhyeo nae majimag sigsa pateuneoneun aju sungan sungan-e indisposeddoebnida. deo manh-eun eobcheneun daebubun hwan-yeonghabnida." Soo Young said answering the woman back. The guards around them seemed to visibly relax a small bit as it seemed that the conversation the two were sharing wasn't all that hostile.

(Translation)

1.) dangsin-i bol su-issneun jeonhyeo nae majimag sigsa pateuneoneun aju sungan sungan-e indisposeddoebnida. deo manh-eun eobcheneun daebubun hwan-yeonghabnida

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Wed Aug 20, 2014 12:03 pm

Seeing as the Korean Woman had no problem with her presence, though it's not like Keira would have left even if she did, the Night Nine Leader positioned her elbow on the tabletop to solidify her place there in a more comfortable posture before resting her cheek in her left palm, the fingers of her right beginning to pick at the meal she had gotten for herself. In doing so, she tore off a small piece of the turkey sandwich she had gotten and popped it into her mouth, lazily chewing on it as she began to dwell on a few more thoughts that crossed her mind.

She had to admit, this place was certainly interesting. It was entirely different from the atmosphere in which she had been indoctrinated, despite the fact that the majority of those official operatives that worked here were ex-military of some kind. She could tell by the look of them, especially when it came to the likes of the Misha she had encountered on the helipad and the woman who accompanied him. However, what amused her even further about this organization was their apparent reliance on convicted criminals that were essentially used as disposable meat-shields.

No doubt the woman seated across from her and the majority that were currently within the room were all such unfortunate people. That was the only possible explanation that could be made based on the surroundings. If she still possessed such a fragile thing, she might have even felt a modicum of pity or sorrow for the poor bastards despite them being criminals, but everything resembling those emotions had long since been discarded. Besides, considering Zulu was the first to be assigned a mission, she had little else to do but mingle, and who better to mingle with than those meat-shields she'd likely be using?

Swallowing the now thoroughly chewed bit of food, Keira would let another sign escape her lips before finally responding, her gaze shifting lazily to glance at the still downed man next to the overturned table and the makeshift shiv he had constructed out of a fork. It was amusing how not even guards seemed to care if needed medical attention or not. "Naneun geos-eul bol su issseubnida. Nan danji geuui teibeul maeneo pa kkaji eobs-eossda chucheug hal su-issda. Geuleom dasi, dangsin-eun sasohan beomjoe eseo mueos-eul gidae haneunga?"

Translation: I can see that. I can only guess his table manners were not up to par. Then again, what do you expect from petty criminals?

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Sun Aug 24, 2014 3:50 am

Seung's stomach growled faintly as she watched the woman eat her meal. She felt a slight burn of annoyance in the pit of her gut towards the man who'd decided to rush her with his crudely constructed shiv. Although it was more partly her fault as she had chosen to instead use her tray to strike the man instead of taking him down by hand. Her tray which had held the majority of her meal which was mostly strewn all over the man's unconscious form. She'd had an apple but it was like giving just a drop of alcohol to an alcoholic. That apple had only served to remind her of why she'd come to this room in the first place "Hunger.".

Directing her eyes away from her dining partner Seung instead decided to view the men who'd accompanied her attacker. The majority of them were sitting at a table in the corner of the room far away from her likely for their own safety rather than Seung's own. The men were all glaring at Soo Young with looks that would likely intimidate anyone of lesser fortitude. Though Seung's blank gaze held and eventually forced the men to divert their own eyes out of a sense of discomfort that had settled over their little group. She doubted she would have any further issues with them in the future and if she did she'd simply show them once more what would occur if they were to instigate action from her again.

As her dining partner spoke once more again in fluent Korean Seung directed her gaze back toward the woman sitting across from her. She'd have to admit it was quite refreshing to have a conversation in her native tongue again. She was fluent in English and a few other languages but none of them ever felt quite as natural as speaking Korean did. By the way the woman's eyes moved Seung could tell she was looking at the man Seung had incapacitated. "Geuui bangsig-eun hwagsilhi myeoch gaji jag-eob-eul sayonghal su iss-eossda. geuneun anh-assjiman gyubeom-eseo maeu heungmiloun sanmanhadaneun geos-eul jeungmyeong. neomu nappeun geugeos-eun neomu danmyeonghaessda." Seung said in response to the woman's words smiling slightly.

"Naega yocheonghal su issseubnida, geulaeseo man-yag dangsin-i nawa hamkke anj-a mueos-eulhagoja mandeun? dangsin-i geugeos-eul seolmyeonghan bawa gat-i sasohan beomjoe?" Seung asked making her own inquiry towards the woman.

-Translations

1-His manners could have used some work for sure. Though he did prove to be quite an interesting distraction from the norm. Too bad it was so shortlived.

2-So if I may ask, What made you wish to sit with me? A petty criminal as you described it?

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Sun Aug 24, 2014 4:17 pm

A nonchalant shrug touched Keira's shoulders at her dining partners question, which was followed by a casual sigh. The only thing driving her to explore the base was simple curiosity and boredom, which were two things she had never had to deal with before being transferred under V.W.A.T's jurisdiction. The operational schedule that JSOC held the members of Night Nine to was one so strict that it might have been compared to inhumane treatment if it were publicly known, but it hardly left any of the operatives with petty feelings of boredom like the ones she was experiencing now.

In all honesty, she was expecting a bit more. Whatever the case, depending on how Zulu went about his current mission and his report, she may change her mind. Until then, however, her views and opinions about the organization were about the same as they were when she first arrived. That is to say, she didn't feel strongly about it, one way or the other. Taking note of the Korean woman's mannerisms and having already analyzed the situation with a dry amusement, Keira slid the tray of her food with her free hand, the other still acting as a resting point for her cheek, across the tabletop toward her dining companion with disinterest.

Bored of humoring the woman's native tongue, Keira had decided that it was time to stop with the Korean wordsalad and reverted to her own native language, as it was already blatantly obvious that both of them knew English. After all, she doubted that a man like Steeler would make use of a meat-shield that didn't even understand instructions. Something like that would hardly be classified as useful, under just about any circumstances.

"Boredom? Amusement? Curiosity? Take your pick. Any of the three would be accurate enough to describe my actions up until now. I'm simply going with where the flow takes me."

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Mon Aug 25, 2014 12:36 am

Much to her surprise the woman seated across from her pushed her tray away sliding it forward in front of Seung herself. She looked at the food and then back at the woman as if skeptical toward the woman's reasons for giving up a perfectly good meal to someone they'd just met. Especially when that person was someone who was likely to show up on the 10 o'clock news after blowing up a hospital or some sort of civilian center. After a brief moment Seung brought one of her hands up onto the table gripping the edge of the tray and pulling it a bit closer almost like a cautious animal testing a pond to see if a crocodile would rise from the depths to strike.

Once she was sure that this wasn't a trick or some well veiled attempt at poisoning her Seung picked up a piece of fruit from the tray another apple. She took a bite chewing quietly as her companion spoke again she directed her eyes to meet Keira's. "I'm sure there are many other ways to sate boredom..." Seung said in english assuming that the woman had tired of speaking in Seung's own native tongue. "Especially when your actually permitted to leave this place and go wherever you please..." Seung said shrugging as she took another bite out of the apple giving the food in her mouth a few chews before once more swallowing.

"As for amusement...I'm sure you would have been quite more amused had you arrived a few minutes earlier." Seung said nodding her head towards the man on the floor who was now just beginning to stir reaching blindly for his shiv. The guards around Seung seemed to swarm the man like crows to carrion grabbing him by the arms and dragging him to his feet confiscating the shiv and wrenching the man's arms behind his back and putting him in handcuffs before leading him out roughly. The man still reeling with his encounter with Seung's lunch tray stumbled along with the guards unable to resist in his dazed state of mind.

With a final shrug Seung took another bite of her apple chewing and swallowing another bite. "Though if you say the flow brought you here who am I to argue with fate." Seung said simply.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Wed Aug 27, 2014 2:32 pm

Insouciantly displaying her carefree display of body language, the Special Forces operator leaned in slightly to put the full weight of her cheek and head onto her supporting hand, a blithe sight escaping her lips as the green orbs that were her eyes casually glanced off to the side into nothingness, as if lost in a deep thought. The dining companion she had chosen for herself was certainly an interesting one, almost precious in a somewhat amusing and mocking sense. The mannerisms she displayed were quite revealing of her actual nature, and practically provided an metaphorical, in depth dossier about her.

Turning her gaze back to the Korean, she took a verbal note of her display while still holding her blithe smirk. "Come now, that kind of caution is misplaced in this kind of situation. The food doesn't bite, after all." She paused a moment, another light sigh escaping her lips before she continued. "A true statement, I suppose. Boredom can be cured by a myriad of activities. Sadly, I've been finding a lack of them around here, even with the option of leaving the base. This is Virginia, after all..."

Finally breaking her bored posture, the woman would lift both her hands above her head as a means of stretching; the sound of her back and fingers popping giving birth to a satisfied groan. Lowering her arms, she would return to her previous posture upon hearing her dining companions quip about fate. That, above all things, was something she defiantly found amusing. Putting aside the fact that a criminal believed in such tings, which in and of itself was humorous idea, the concept itself was simply ridiculous to Keira.

"You misunderstand. I hardly tether myself an idea as mundane as fate. It's the opposite, actually. Nonetheless, I find it rather comical that a petty criminal believes in such a ridiculous thing. My actions are my own, dictated by my own mind and conscience, not some predetermined script that was written by some unseen author. In fact, going with the flow is the opposite. I'm merely indulging my own curiosities and responding to the effects that come of it."

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Thu Aug 28, 2014 3:24 am

As she took another bite of the apple in her hand her eyes turned to gaze upon the strange woman seated across from her. As she swallowed her food once more she spoke "It's not the food itself I'm worried about...It's what could be in it and the intents others may have for it..." Seung said simply with a slight shrug of her shoulders. It was no secret that she was not well liked amongst the soldiers that populated the base. To them she was a symbol of everything their nation vowed to fight against. Terrorism for the sake of terror, At least that's what it was in their eyes to Seung her terrorism held a much different meaning. To her it was her purpose in life to become to object of the world's hatred to regulate the flow of life's metaphorical river.

In times of peace people lived such stagnant lives. Each day waking up to go to work, eating, sleeping, and repeat and they were content to live such dull lives that held no real purpose other than to simply exist. Seung couldn't stand to watch such a blatant example of insanity go on. And so she became the ember that would stoke the flames of anger, rage and vengeance. These people could hate her all they wanted but in the end no matter what end she met she'd completed her goal well enough to be satisfied. Although just because she was ready to accept her end did not mean she was willing to accelerate her journey to her end. No she had much more to do before she would reach the end of her thread.

Seung smirked at the woman's complaints regarding the base's location. She didn't know much of America only that it was ripe with targets of opportunity. As far as she knew the most important places out here were Fort Belvoir and Langley where the CIA had set up their headquarters. "With the CIA as neighbors I would assume that they'd find all sorts of fun 'activities' for you to partake in." Seung said placing the core of her apple back on the tray. She folded her hands together and rested her chin upon her fingers leaning forward and letting out a small sigh her hunger was sated for the time being she tended to eat in small amounts so for now she would just talk to entertain herself and her companion.

She raised an eyebrow as the woman voiced her opinions regarding the idea of fate. Usually she'd avoid debates or arguments she found them to be wastes of time that achieved nothing in the end. But considering the both of them seemed to have endless amounts of time it seemed like the perfect diversion to distract them both from their boredom. "Hmmm well regardless of the choices you make, Who's to say there isn't some divine being pulling the strings behind your choices? What if all of your 'freewill' is really the inception of this divine being's will being placed in your mind?" Seung said a small smirk spreading across her lips. Even to her this idea sounded ludicrous but it was a theory woven together on the spot so she didn't expect it to sound logical either.

"I mean there must be some truth to fate, After all no matter what choices we make or the lives we live. Life is just a long river all headed in one direction, It can branch off in as many ways as it wishes but in the end we all reach the same destination..." Seung said forming her right hand into a finger gun and putting it to her temple and pulling the fake trigger. "It's where well all end up so I suppose you can say that is the fate that awaits us all." Seung said lowering her hand back to the table.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Thu Aug 28, 2014 5:50 pm

That confirmed it. The Korean's caution was severely misplaced with regards to the food, so much, in fact, that Keira even let a mirthful chuckle escape her lips in response to it. It was entertaining to think that someone who's sole purpose was to be nothing more than an expendable sack of meat could still worry about something as insidious as underhanded tactics. Letting the impish smirk that seemed to be a permanent accessory to her features grow slightly, Deyanira merely fixed her gaze on her dining partner before responding, the blithe tone of her voice still holding as always.

"It's awfully pompous to believe someone in your position to be so dangerous that we'd offer you food that's been tampered with. Logically, utilizing insidious tactics like subterfuge on you would be a wasted effort, especially when you could just as easily be disposed of by throwing you to the supernatural elements that you already act as an expendable agent against. If anyone of authority wanted you gone that badly, they'd just send you against unbeatable odds."

The fixed gaze that was once focused on the Korean had now drifted off to the side, casually observing the other individuals who were still in the mess hall. The topic of the CIA being brought up was one that sparked a small bit of nostalgia in her, and she allowed herself to cling to it for a few moments; remembering the times that she was one of them, one of their top field agents, lurking amongst the shadows behind enemy lines; all of it was rather entertaining while it lasted. However, she let the thought slip away into the indifference of her mind after only a moment of indulging her recollection.

"No doubt, but I'm not subject to the CIA's authority, so the suggestion holds little in the way of alleviating my boredom."

The continuation on the idea of fate only served as a momentary hook for Keira's attention to latch onto, which lasted about as long as the Korean's attempt to her belief in the droll concept which Keira had dismissed several years ago. Waving the freehand that was resting on the tabletop in a dismissive fashion, Keira could only sigh with a hint of disappointment. It was almost painful to see such a lack of logical and reasonable thinking in a person. Nonetheless, she'd humor the woman, if for nothing else than a way to pass the time.

"That's what's called an argument from ignorance, though I will admit that the river analogy is a cute one. In fact, I'm going to borrow it for a moment to demonstrate just how ineffective it is. Assuming fate is the river and the people are the fish, a river flows towards a focal point and nowhere else. In other words, it always flows towards a larger, downhill pool, but the very fact that the fish all reach the same destination makes the concept of fate unnecessary." Pausing a moment, the ever-present smirk seemed to subtly grow, but only slightly.

The purpose of life is to simply die, and thus it's meaningless. What transpires during that life, and the purposes one finds within it, is of no concern, as it will eventually be erased and forgotten, and thus fate can be discarded as a construct of the idiotic. I find your attachment to the idea of fate droll, especially given your position, but overall it is severely flawed from a logical standpoint.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Dungeon Master Tue Sep 09, 2014 7:42 pm

A platter of gooey food, mostly consisting of mashed potato and sour cream careened through the air, with its surface poised to splatter the food contents against Keira's head as three collared men in the VWAT standard BDU, minus the button up shirt in favour of a normal T-shirt, olive, all of them with bulging muscles, approach up to five feet behind the smiling she-devil and her companion. The leader of the group, a blondish man, gave off a sideway glare at his more juvenile companion for ruining the surprise, but it didn't matter. As far as he saw it, she was a woman, and it's been a long time since the three had a taste of one.

"Well well, lookie 'ere Brick, we got ourselves two, fiiiiine, young ladies, all lathered up and ready for some lovin', YEAH." The leftmost man from the leader, Butch, said in a guttural slur.

"Mhhhm, I'd like a taste of Chinese chop suey, it's been too long since I had a taste of one..." Brick licks his lips in anticipation, standing rightmost from the leader. He was incarcerated for cannibalism, as well as wholesale manslaughter. Offered a chance at freedom, but with a leash, how could he say no?

"Boys, I am sure there is plenty of Chink and Bitch for everyone. Well, you two can share... I like me some of that fine piece of ass on a platter. Tell ya boys what, you can have the Chink, but me? I think I like that hopped up black ops bitch. Nothing comes as... succulent as an arrogant ponce from some lowly special forces that think they are the shit. Ho ho ho, oh no. They all squeal the same... the Navy Seals, the CIA, the Mossad... heeeh~ All the same, and I am judging this one will do just as nicely as well." The leader, known as Brian, despite his mild mannered name, was easily the largest among the two in size. He stood a good 6'6" feet tall, whereas his companions were 6'3" feet, and had the largest muscles. He was the worst offender of all of them, a discharged army man who went on a binge streak of massacres, rape, sedition, and wholesale vandalism of public property as well as ninety counts of lollygagging. A most heinous crime. He cracks his knuckles as he grins, and the boys flanking him voice their amusement in chuckles.

The two, like sharks, Brick and Butch, began circling around like sharks from each side of their current location, maintaining a distance of five feet, not out of fear, but out of savoring the meal to come, from the two. Particularly they made their way around to the North Korean's six o' clock behind.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Keira Deyanira Tue Sep 09, 2014 8:47 pm

OOC: New posting order that starts with me: Keira, Soo, Dungeon Master, for consistency.
-----------------------

The Night Nine Leader, having never her situational awareness of the evironment she currently inhabited slip from her notice, it was clear that something was out of the ordinary. The peculiar expressions on a number of the surrounding convicts features had been noted by her since the moment that had been revealed, and the keenest of observational skills had allowed her to track the direction of one such convicts eyes, which had been focused on something behind her.

Smirk never leaving her face, nor any form of shock touching upon her insouciant features, the Night Nine Unit Leader had only shifted her body to the right in a sudden yet controlled lean, allowing the aerial projectile to harmlessly careen over her shoulder and towards her dining partner's face, the contents of which she could easily identify as it flew on by, the tiniest specks of which managing to lay claim to a small patch on her shoulder, before she had returned to her upright seating position and her original posture with her elbow resting on the table top and her chin resting in an open palm.

Listening to the dialogue that could only be originating from the would-be assailants, particularly the words that originated from the supposed leader of the little band of misfits, the likes of which sparked great amusement from the woman who hadn't even bothered to glance over her shoulder to see their approach. She couldn't help but ponder how individuals so dense could actually exist, let alone how they had any value as meatshields under VWAT's employment.

They were apparently oblivious to the several guards still within the mess hall, especially those who had earlier been involved with her dining partners minor scuffle, and that was something that only served as a source of even greater amusement. Casually glancing to the side as a mean to gain sight of the men who had began to circle the table, Keira only lifted her hand in a casual, yet mocking, waving motion before the surrounding guards had sprung into action.

Their previous position having been at the circumference of mess hall, they had the perfect advantage to mimic the moments of the would-be attackers and had quickly closed in to surround them, some possessing military-grade tazers in their grasp while others maintaining a hold on durable batons. Letting the situation loosely fall into the hands of the guards who had encircled the children playing at being sharks, Keira had finally spoken.

"My my, kids these days... I know you children are always tempted to eavesdrop on private conversations between women," She said, still smirking, in direction of the man known as Brian. "But interrupting will only get you in trouble, little boy. The topics, I promise you, will go right over that tiny little head of yours. Do be good and shoo, wont you? I'm not in the mood to skin you lot alive."

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Thu Sep 18, 2014 1:29 am

Soo Young having seen the tray of gooey food being thrown by one of the three fools sighed, She had thought that perhaps she would be able to enjoy a simple meal and perhaps a basic conversation with someone other than the guards who accompanied her. But no it seemed that trouble always seemed to rear it's ugly head at the most inopportune times. As Keira dodged the tray Soo did the same except leaning a bit to her left allowing the tray and it's contents to sail over her shoulder to splatter against the floor behind her harmlessly.

As the guards came to surround the idiotic band of convicts who had decided to try their hand at trying to play the school yard bully she saw her dining companion wave her hand ceasing them in their preparations to detain the men. Her face remained expressionless as the men circled the table like sharks attracted to chum. In her own opinion they more resembled flies buzzing about existing only to annoy her in any way they found it possible to do so.

She made a slight tch sound as one of the men began to speak about her as if she were food. As the two burlier men circled around behind her she sighed her fingers brushing against the edge of the tray that Keira had provided her. She turned her head to look at the two walking pillars of muscle a small sigh escaping her lips at the looks within their eyes.

Both of them held the looks of the depraved, Men who'd not seen a woman in years and by no means knew how to treat one. Not that it really mattered to Seung at the end of the day all these men were to her were threats to be dealt with one way or another. The seemingly condescending tone that Keira's voice carried brought a small smirk to Seung's face. Though they did not agree one certain things she found the woman's company to be strangely enjoyable particularly with the way she seemed to approach almost any situation with her lazy smile in place upon her lips. It was a strange appreciation but it was one that she had nonetheless. However there would be time to dwell upon how much she enjoyed the special forces operator's company later.

Presently she had two issues to take care of and her mind was searching for the right solution to approach them. Thought it was almost assured that each solution involved them being hurt or horrible maimed in some way, shape or form.

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Dungeon Master Fri Sep 19, 2014 3:04 pm

As if they were victims of a seizure, each of the men began to convulse and shake like maniacal dubstep dancers before dropping to the floor like ragdolls. The three were twitching, trying to retain their footing, only to be met with a sudden and merciless onslaught of batons smacking them against face and crotch particularly by the base's security, pummeling them till their faces turn bruised, and their skin color discolored in the afflicted spots from the thorough brutality, as they began to sob from the treatment from the ruthless guards. Soon enough, their bloodied and ruined bodies were carted out of the mess hall, in a trail of red that smeared along in the path they were dragged. Probably to be locked away and beaten up some more by the smaller, but more ruthless guards.

The captain nods to the two, and simply says, "Ma'ams, I hope you both enjoy your meals, and the show." That being said, he turned about, following the guards outside, as a few token amount remained to watch the messhall still. The environment noticeably stilled and quieted from the display of force, as whatever rowdiness that overtaken the bunch stilled, slowed in fact into that of slothful monotony, hushed whispers and murmurs, before re-attaining in due time, the loud talking among one another over the most mundane of matters.

Though one of the guards decided to move a bunch of shrubbery behind Keira that stood as tall as her seated figure, nodding to her, "Now, there will be no more concerns." And then he leaves as well, leaving to stand once more at his post. He had an inkling she will know what the shrubbery was for, as his dutifulness over their well being evaporated in the face of the now erased vulnerability.

Post by Keira Deyanira Fri Sep 19, 2014 7:24 pm

The Night Nine Leader would have to admit, if such an inquiry were posed, that there came with watching the scene of wanna-be badasses getting put down after their cliched monologues a feeling of mild amusement and a modicum of satisfaction. If she was in the position to do so, she figured watching similar displays could make a decent enough hobby to pass the time with, and seeing as how easy it was to instigate the incident to begin with, she was heavily tempted to go through with the idea.

Placing the idea in the back of her mind for a later date, the time of which she'd likely decided with finality as to whether or not making VWAT criminals embarrass themselves as her new pass time, and gave an insouciant wave of her hand toward the guards as they hauled out the petty rabble, the action carrying over as a display of appreciation to the captain, the guard who was thoughtful enough to rearrange the potted shrubbery as a wall behind her, and to those who remained to continue their duty.

Placing an elbow on the table for her chin to once again fall to rest on, Keira's gaze casually returned to eye her dining partner to re-engage in the conversation that had just recently been rudely interrupted. The following inquiry would be one of mock construction, simply a catalyst to reignite the discussion. "So, where were we?"

Main Mess Hall Empty Re: Main Mess Hall

Post by Seung Soo Young Sun Sep 21, 2014 8:01 pm

Soo Young couldn't help but feel a bit of disappointment she'd been looking forward to imprinting the faces of one of those men on her lunch tray but it seemed that the situation had been pacified before it could escalate any further. Though the manner of how it was handled did bring some measure of amusement to the North Korean as she watched the men writhe in pain as volts of electricity traveled through their bodies. Even after such excruciating pain the guards who had hauled off her earlier attackers continued their assault beating the men into submission using batons or their boots striking every inch of the men they could reach.

Inside she could hear her inner sadist laughing at the scene she'd just witnessed. She gave a small nod of thanks to the Captain of the guards who'd intervened in the men's would be assault. As the guards returned to their posts and dragged away their victims she turned her eye back to the woman seated across from her. She felt a small smirk tug at her lips as the woman attempting to rekindle their former conversation. Soo Young recalled that they had been talking about fate and destiny but after the most recent display that topic had lost it's interest in her mind. Mainly in due part to the small voice in the back of her mind still cackling like a hyena at the misfortune of the three men.

"Hmm it seem's I've forgotten in the midst of all the excitement..." Soo Young said shrugging her shoulders dismissively. Soo Young mirrored her dining partner resting her chin upon her palm "But I'm sure we could find a myriad of interesting topics to talk about if you'd like." Soo Young said.

That was disappointing, though which was more so, the Korean's obvious prevarication about forgetting the conversation topic or the pathetic display of would-be badasses pretending to be the apex predators in this situation, she couldn't quite decide. In all honesty, Deyanira's interest in the subject matter only went as deep as her amusement for dismantling and destroying the Korean's reasons for believing in it, and even that was rather shallow considering the fact that she considered such a thing to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for entertainment.

It was unlikely that her dining partner had backed away from the topic in a display of evasion. She seemed to be firmly loyal to the ridiculous beliefs of fate and other superstition that went hand-in-hand with it, so she could only conclude that, like herself, the Korean had also grown tired of the conversation altogether. Keira could hardly blame her, as she found such topics to be rather droll at best, and the previous conversation was merely a mock attempt at civilities to cure the ever-present lethargy that she currently felt.

Sighing, the permanent, lazy smirk still etched upon her lips, Keira's dark green eyes gave another cursory glance around the mess hall before deciding that any more attempted outbursts wouldn't occur. That meant that the sources of amusement had run dry in the place. Sitting up straight from the hunched position she had adopted to accommodate her seated position, her hands pressed flat against the table as she rose to her feet.

"Right, then. Looks like the sources of amusement have run dry in here. I'll tell you what, I'll do us both a favor." She used the thumb of her right hand to point over her shoulder, gesturing towards the mess hall doors. "Let's go for a little spar in the gym. I want to warm up before my next mission comes in."
