Megali's Room Empty Megali's Room

Post by Achilles Sun Feb 22, 2015 10:55 pm

Description: Far closer to a traditional prison cell than anything available to the willfully enlisted members of VWAT, Megali's living quarters are sparse and spartan in all respects. It consists of only a small bedroom space made up of windowless concrete walls which, thankfully, had been painted a warmer color reminiscent of red mesa stone. Pushed against the far wall is a single sized bed immaculately made up with dark crimson sheets which stands in stark contrast to the rest of her room. Countless books liter the floor in various heaps and piles leaving only a few areas of the floor sized, quilted rug beneath them visible. The subjects range from day to day but standard among them are text books of world history and elementary science. Finally, she has a small stainless steel closet and matching dresser arranged at the head and foot of her bed respectively, more than enough to cater to her paltry wardrobe.

======>Dragon Hunting and a walk in the woods

She entered her sparse living quarters with a smile on her face and the usual swagger visible in her hips. Having returned from an impressive victory over a dragon of all things, it was only natural for her to bask in her well earned glory. At least, it had been until Megali and Yuu had arrived back at the VWAT base. Separated almost immediately so that the mechanical girl could receive her badly needed repairs, the Grecian woman quickly found herself the target of far more hostility than usual courtesy of the various guards throughout the base. No matter where she went, their harsh glares seemed to zero in on the collar around her neck, causing them to readjust the grips they had upon their weapons.

She had made it roughly halfway to her room when curiosity finally got the better of her and she asked a nearby soldier what the cause of the widespread destruction throughout the facility was. Informed of the power outage and prisoner uprising, Megali only lost a beat or two before elaborating upon her disappointment in not being present to put down the masses herself. Thankfully, the guard wanted to hear none of it and she was only forced to keep up the farce for a moment. As soon as the guard turned to distance himself from the conversation, Megali was already on her way to her room, cocky strut barely in place.

She held out just long enough to close the door behind her and turn the locking mechanism before sullenly resting her forehead against the cool steel as her face drooped. "Damn it," she cursed under her breath, managed to avoid slipping back into Greek. Thumping her head against the door once more, her features twisted into a look of frustrated disgust while she pressed her back to the door and slid down to a sitting position on the floor.

"Damn it. Damn it. Damn it," she continued, her voice growing less disgruntled and more depressed with each utterance. The collars had been deactivated. She had been free. Even as Yuu asked her about the damnable leash around her neck in the forest, she was free. She could have torn the horrid leash off and fled to the wilderness, free of this slavery once and for all. But she hadn't. Beyond the fact that she had no means of knowing about the power outage, the blow that struck much harder was the fact that she hadn't even tried to escape after that crash. She'd simply accepted the inevitability of her return to this place. To the cold steel halls and machinery that boggled the mind. It was not long before the thought brought fresh tears to her eyes.

Was this the kind of person she had become? Was this who she was? Slowly, painfully, she'd begun to accept the fact that she was no longer Achilles, the invincible warrior of her time. That time was gone and her identity had been sealed away from prying eyes, her glory deprived while she served these strangers like a captured animal. Wrapping her arms around herself, she squeezed her upper arms hard enough to illicit dull twinges of pain.

Beyond her own attachment to her own achievements, that was why she couldn't bare to let that fool bring back the drakon. Monster or not, something like that deserved to be killed in the wild, not shackled and forced into submission in a world it didn't understand. Even after all the hours she burned away studying, Megali had barely scratched the surface of this new world. Inventions as basic as electricity were fascinating wonders she could barely grasp and far too often it felt like the sheer volume of knowledge she was expected to take in was unbearable.

Deep down, she had already convinced herself that these feelings would pass. Regardless of whether or not she could proclaim it from the rooftops, she was still Achilles. Never before had she met a challenge she could not overcome and this would be no different. Eventually she would find her balance within this world and somehow, she would be free of this collar. But those ambitions were fueled by pride and anger, emotions which felt so very far away as she sat cold and surrounded by topics she did not understand. Isolated and unsure, she couldn't help but think about how much easier this would all be with Patroklus by her side but even for her, that was an impossible ambition. Her lover was long dead and burried and she was well and truly alone.
