OOC A quest of truly epic proportion.

Roy walked quietly and in the spaces of best ever vigilant, and always on watch for anyone. He was dressed in his military uniform and fully equip with his weapons. His hand resting on his pistol holster. Ready to be drawn at a moments notice. While not an adrenaline pumping mission. Roy was still treating it like there could be potential attackers. It never paid to slack off, but to be on your gaurd would keep you alive.

From the bushes emerged several tiny creatures. They were vaguely human in shape, but with thick brown hair covering their bodies and pointed claws and teeth. They crept quietly away from the guard who just passed by, giggling silently at his stupid haircut. Tiptoeing across the base, they went in search of any machinery to tear apart and dismantle. It would be an easy task, considering how utterly incompetent this base's defense seemed to be right now. They knew it would only be a few minutes before another person came, so they had to act fast. Three of them began to unscrew the bolts holding wheels on a jeep, four more beginning to pop out the windshield.

(OOC) Seven gremlins trying to dismantle the base's vehicles. Can you stop them?

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Roy Dimercurio Sun Jan 12, 2014 11:26 pm

OOC: I'm really hopping I can...

Roy turned his head in the directions of the vehicles thinking he heard something. At first he could have sword he heard very light feet. But that proved to be nothing as he looked around. However then he began to hear some noises from the jeeps.

It sounded like...screws? Roy shook his head as he quietly walked over to the jeeps. making sure to be as stealthy as he could. Thinking this might be the wind or something. Knowing no one was supposed to be down here, much less a mechanic.

Before Roy moved he pulled out his pistol to be safe, and then peeked his head around the corner and saw...yes...he saw gremlins...

Roy had seen the movies about these little creeps, and seeing as how he didn't have a microwave to kill them a gun would have to do. Roy took careful but quick aim at the three on the floor firing a bullet in from behind at the gremlin nearest him working on the tires.

Then he took five other shots at the other gremlins on the floor. Careful to avoid hitting the jeep however. Some of those five shots would be switched to any gremlin if they advanced towards him. The closest one being shot at first. Wether a windshield or tire one.

Having removed all but one of the screws keeping the tire on the vehicle and pulling the windshield out, the gremlins heard the noise of a person approaching. Running underneath the jeep, they took cover from the gunfire, screeching from beneath it. Moving from underneath and hopping into the driver's seat, they hotwired the vehicle. The engine starting, two of them got to the floor to control the pedals (flooring it), while the other five controlled the wheel (two on each side with the other three holding them and moving around in the seat to turn). Making a sharp turn around, they quickly approached the soldier who tried to shoot them, the tire they'd nearly taken off beginning to shake.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Roy Dimercurio Mon Jan 13, 2014 12:01 am

Roy honestly was freaking as they hot wired the car, and started to drive at him. Luckily for him after his bullets missed and they took out the windshield protecting the jeep became a little less of an importance. While the gremlins all hopped in the car from under it and hot wired, Roy had time to pull out a grenade, pull the pin with his teeth, then as they started to drive toward him he three it.

Waiting but a moment. The jeep was approximately sixty feet away as they drove full speed towards him. When the grenade was launched, after a second, it took another to sail forward at it, hitting it around two and a half seconds later. At about thirty feet away. Landing in the passenger seat. Exploding at about twenty feet from his position.

The effective wounding range being fifteen feet. Roy knew that he would be safe and so would the other jeeps. But that did not stop him from running full speed away from the car after he threw the grenade.

OOC So here is what happened. While the Gremlins hopped out from under the car and hot wired it, then started driving. Roy pulled the pin on the grenade waiting a moment to throw it so that when it did, and the gremlins were about twenty feet away it would explode nearly on impact in the drivers seat. Roy meanwhile after throwing the grenade dashed away from the jeep. Having maxed human speed i'd say he would have been about twenty five, thirty feet away from the explosion while it took place. The effective wounding range being only fifteen feet. Leaving him no chance of being wounded especially since the jeep would be absorbing most of the shrapnel coming in his direction.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Dungeon Master Mon Jan 13, 2014 12:11 am

The grenade sailed overhead, the gremlins on the seat swinging out and landing on the ground before the explosion. The other two weren't as lucky, one dying and the other being injured. The body still on the accelerator, the jeep continued forward. The wheel finally came loose, however, and the vehicle flipped over, killing the one left alive. The wheel, however, continued its journey towards Roy by coincidence, the five remaining imps scampering away into a building to see what else they had to work with.

Finding a nice car, they again began to start it, another finding a gun. Taking it apart down to the necessary components, the pulled a blowtorch over the the jeep they had previously taken, welding the gun to the car's hood. One of them stationed itself to fire, the others inside to prepare for attack once the human showed his ugly face.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Roy Dimercurio Mon Jan 13, 2014 7:23 pm

Roy looked back and side stepped the wheel just in time to watch it pass. He got out his rifle and got down on one knee. Taking careful aim once again before firing in the Gremlins. Having time to do so whilst they stripped down the gun and started the blow torch. Welding it to the car. Roy let loose a spray off bullets at them and the gun as fast as he ever could. He being in darkness, and the Gremlins all of them very well lit because of the torch. Giving him a very distinct advantage over them for the moment. Trying his best to kill them but also sending three bullets out of his twenty at the gun. Which now being fastened to the unmoving car was a sitting duck.

OOC: So, If you've ever welded, unless these guys have magical eyes or something which, maybe they do. You'd have heard of a thing called aRch flare. Basically it acts like a burning sensation on the eyes for a couple day, effectively also blinding you for a while to. This is caused by welders who don't wear a welding mask. I don't think any of these little guys were. Just throwing that out there.

Nextly, I believe the setting is nighttime. Meaning that Roy who is outside, would be pretty much unseen, Especially as they use a welding torch next to their eyes. Making all the darkness, even darker to them. But the Gremlins would all be quite visible especially those that are near the gun and the torch. Also having welded before, If done right, so that what you are doing doesn't fall apart. It takes a little time. Not a lot if your good, and these guys are magical. But indeed some. Giving Roy what i believe is definitely enough time to take out the gun, and then shoot at some gremlins. Obviously I can't say if I even hit the gun, but this is my argument for why i should.

(OOC) Gremlins, so yeah, they do have magic eyes. Little creatures that only have the purpose of ripping apart machinery are pretty likely to be cool about stuff like welding.

You've instantly jumped to within firing range of the building, despite you making no mention of moving to it in the post. In fact, you get down on one knee, meaning you've been stationary the whole time. The idea that they can't find the man firing an incredibly loud gun at them on a moonlit night is stupid. One who has to run towards them to get within range of the building, no less, making plenty of noise in the process.

Apparently, the human thought he could take free aim at them. Seeing the silhouette of the man against the moonlit buildings outside, the one on the hood began screaming to the ones in the car. Smashing the accelerator to the floor, the car took off in a jerking, swerving motion, the torch falling to the ground with the gun barely holding to the hood. Bullets began to fly randomly in all directions. It only took a few seconds to empty the magazine, in which time they'd most likely have hit everything but the person they intended. The car clumsily making its way towards him should make up for that, though, despite the three attempts to shoot them grazing the fender and door.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Father Anthony Diem Mon Mar 17, 2014 3:55 pm

( OOC: Hmm sorry, I thought you said all the jeeps were outside, and given Roy's distance from the original jeep and how far he'd be from the others if they were near that one i thought that he was close enough by to be accurate when shooting at them. I was also thinking that Roy would have the advantage of not being seen first because the light from the torch would have appeared before Roy's gun.)

Roy was really out of luck tonight, sure he could fight vampires and were wolves and other hulking creatures of the night but these blasted little beasts were something he had never even thought existed, and indeed he had never thought of how to defeat them, much less trained to. Ah well, he smiled to himself as the car came towards him flinching at the gun fire and getting up to run away not remembering to zigzag in his confusion, which perhaps given the creatures aim was a good thing. As the bullets hurtling towards him did not successfully hit him. Though still, soon enough that car would. He made a quick mental check on his weapons, a few grenades, knife, plenty of bullets all his guns before putting his plan in to action. Roy turned and stopped, and waited for the car to get close to him, seeing that the gun was out of bullets. When the car did reach him at it's breakneck speed Roy dived to the side almost like one would against a charging bull. Rolling to the left of the car's path and slapping his hands down to stop himself, thanking his martial arts training for his ability to do acrobatic things like this. He waisted no time in pulling out another of his grenades and tossing it at the car, not sure if he would hit it but thinking he would get close. All he needed now was to disable that car, heaven knows his bullets wouldn't be able to get all of those little creatures inside of the vehicle when it was going so fast. But eventually so long as a few of them kept dying off like this, he might be able to finish them off without blowing things up. If Roy lived long enough, he imagined he would probably be reprimanded for destroying already some jeeps. After throwing the grenade Roy waisted even less time running off away from the grenade and out of blast radius, he shouldn't be in the lethal range yet, and if he was lucky he could escape hopefully unscathed it's harmful shrapnel.

(OOC: Feel free to stop Roy at anytime during this post, say, if he gets hit by the car, and disregard the remainder of the post if such a thing happens. Thanks.)

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Dungeon Master Fri Mar 21, 2014 7:50 pm

(OOC) It's the fact he's making a ton of noise as he's charging in there. They don't really have to see him, just hear him coming at them. They probably see him, too, but the point being that he'd be noticed. If I was meaner, I'd probably kill you because of what you said, by the way.

One of the imps began yelling at the driver, bringing to mind a certain animated dragon in a children's film, reprimanding him for missing the target despite being right in front of them. Pulling off the sickest drift in modern history, the jeep swerved around to face the fleeing man once again. The grenade had exploded behind them, leaving the group undamage, though tires were damaged upon running over the bits of shrapnel left on the ground from the blast. This would prove for a rather uncomfortable ride, but would not limit their ability to leave skid marks on the road as they clumsily pursued, swerving side-to-side and leaving sparks in their wake as the damage fender dragged the ground that was now within range of touching, as the tires were deflating at a fast rate.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

Post by Roy Dimercurio Fri Mar 28, 2014 8:56 pm

OOC: Sure.

Roy's plan was not as successful as he hoped, but certainly more successful than he expected. In what was an astonishing move, nay, a magical move the car was flipped around in the span of a split second to face him once more. They drove over the tires however and Roy knew that should slow them down if only a little. They swerved and skidded to such a degree that he knew he wouldn't have any luck shooting at them until they slowed down. So doing what he could to keep his distance he pulled out his pistol and prepared for more car dodging, which was sort of like dodging a bull, only a little easier. His natural speed and reflexes would be invaluable hear and perhaps a bit of his acrobatic skill would just manage to get him out of here alive. While not great, this was something that Roy assumed he had from his years of training as a martial artist. Still though he would take a s little chances as possible, no sense in getting careless for just for a cool move or two. Roy was going to try and lead this little imps back to the other jeeps where yes they would have a great many more jeeps with which to crush him, but also less room to do so, and given his current position, and his quickly depleting store of explosives, he imagined that to be the lesser of the two dangers. Maybe when he was there he could even kill a few more, and stall for time to think of a better plan.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, School became a very large pain for a bit there, should be pretty active though for a little while at least.

Roy's Amazingly Important Mission Empty Re: Roy's Amazingly Important Mission

The gremlins continued on their mad drive as the tires completely emptied themselves of air, loose rubber slapping the pavement like a gloved hand to a baby's bottom. They slowly followed the fleeing human, less of a chase at this point and more akin to a young child running from its slow grandparent attempting to pinch cheeks. Wherever he was going, they would follow, despite the bumpy ride ahead. They would no doubt catch up to him quickly enough despite the handicap, another attempt at hit-and-run following suit at that moment.

Good they were following him, Roy thought to himself, then just a moment later, Frik they are still following me. Lucky the flap of the tires kept him alert to their distance behind him. So that when it got close enough he made another mad dash to the side for his life, looking over his shoulder before doing so to accurately gauge their threat to him and their distance. He rolled to the side and once again stormed off towards the cars for cover pulling out one of his pistols for he intended to finish this soon enough. It seemed that these gremlins lacked a good deal of foresight and intended to follow him where he went, so be it Roy thought to himself again. He wasn't going to let these gremlins keep him running for very much longer, he knew he would tire eventually and also knew that he could never outrun a car.

Post by Dungeon Master Fri Apr 11, 2014 3:12 pm

This was becoming tedious. After this latest dodge, the gremlins decided to abandon the chase of this one human, crashing the car into a wall after bailing out moments before. Deciding to go their separate ways, the remaining imps scattered across the base. Their small size and quickness would make them impossible to follow, let alone wrangle them all. It would seem they'd gotten away with their crimes this time around, leaving Roy to explain why there are two destroyed cars and bullet holes inside the garage.

(OOC) Mission failure.
