Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) Harry-dresden

Name: Joseph Magnus

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Appearance: Joseph is a well built man, always having been one for the outdoors and wilderness. Lifting weights commonly throughout his life. Joseph's face while weathered is still young looking. He normally lets the hair on his face grow out a bit. As well as letting his hair grow a little longer too. Joseph has strong cheekbones, and a smooth chin. Not very defined features, but definitely not smooth or fair. Best described as a rugged handsomeness. Joseph's eyes are to the normal world around him. Dark Brown and normal. But underneath his colored contact lenses is a pair of grey hourglass eyes for pupils. The only other color of his eye being the white of them. His hair is a dark black, except for his beard, which is a medium shade of brown. Joseph normally wears a pair of blue jeans supported by a belt, as well as a black shirt, and a trench coat. Good for many purposes. On his head is a black wide rimmed fedora, on his feet are brown boots. Tough but comfortable and well fitting. He has a pair of long, white, golden toed socks under these boots. On his hands especially his right, are a pair of black gloves nearly always there. They are tough, but made of a soft leather, with a warm lining. Capable of doing careful manipulations, as well as acting like decently warm gloves for the colder regions.

Equipment:

Joseph staff is probably his most precious item, being ingrained with runes which hold magical properties. A total of 12 of these runes are engraved on this staff, on average. It is six feet tall, covered in leather for a two foot stretch towards the top to serve as a handle. And brown, varnished once, but long since worn.

On his hand is this symbol. It rests in his palm. This hand is completely normal looking aside from the rune. By normal looking, that means for Joseph, calloused and well maintained with no scarring. But normally covered in a glove.

He carries an MP R8 pistol, holding .357 caliber rounds and nine of them to a barrel. He also carries around pre loaded barrels in his trench coat. Two extras to be exact. 18 of his total 45 bullets are cased in silver, and every one has a blessing on them. He has twenty four extra bullet's in various eight row lines along his trench coat. Reloading after he uses up his pre loaded rounds can be quite the pain. As each one bullet would have to be loaded individually. This gun is carried in a holster at his left hip.

Joseph also has an 1887 yellowboy 10 gauge shotgun. It can carry five shell's in it's tube and one in the chamber. It will fire as fast as Joseph can cock it and pull the trigger. He normally carries 18 shells. Also within his trench coat. Six of which are blessed silver buckshot. The rest are normal blessed buckshot. This gun is normally strapped to the side of his shin in a holster for easy reach, whenever he thinks he needs it. A velcro strap wraps around the stock of the gun helping to keep it in place, yet making it possible for Joseph to rip it out quickly when need be.

Joseph owns two knives, one a swiss army knife with everything he could ever want. A can opener a saw a blade, a nail clipper, a pair of tweezers, even a plastic tooth pick.. The next in a scabbard is a hardened blessed steel knife. It is very large and is often the knife he will use when carving runes, or when manipulating an object with his hand rune. This blade is cured with a wooden pair of grips in the handle, worn looking but strong still. It is a very long knife.

Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) Photo_18Carving knife.

Joseph owns an older car. Known as 1967 Chevrolet Impala. Painted completely back and in wonderful condition. Everything he owns is literally in this car. He has also rigged the seat to comfortable extend all the way back so as to make a bed out of it. he contains a selection of CD's mostly older heavy metal. Like Metallica, Judas Priest, Helloween iron maiden and etc. Needless to say, to avoid legal issues his guns are most often stored in the car unless he heeds them. He has enough caned goods and water bottles to last a week for himself in his trunk, as well as a warm blanket and a pillow for him to sleep in. As well as a few changes of clothing a tooth brush, deodorant, and other hygienic needs. The most valuable thing he owns however is probably his book of runes, giving detailed description. of his possible future powers and current powers. Written by his very own family.

Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) M262a

Race: Human

Abilities: Joseph's abilities while, not the most powerful, and numerous. Are still amazingly useful, and when he needs to be. He can turn them in to a deadly force.

His most useful skill thus far is his ability to tap in to the power of the rune on his hand. A rune of possession, as he calls it. This rune is an ancient rune passed down from his family who were the inventors of such a thing. This skill can do two different things. The first bestowing a small telekinesis, but taking his arm for the duration in the process. Anywhere in sight Joseph can inscribe this rune on another object. The rune meanwhile on his hand disappears, and his arm and hand turn black and become useless. But meanwhile, so long as the object is no more than 100 pounds. He can control it like it is his own body part. Moving it as he could his hand. This would enable him to take control of a gun and fire it at maximum speed. Or a sword, fighting with it in mid air. Anything with a will of it's own, ie, a human vampire werewolf. But not a tree or plant. Is not subject to this ability. This ability lasts ten posts. It recharges every ten posts, or if in the post Joseph receives at least four hours of sleep. Or six hours of rest. Note this ability only works within two hundred feet of Joseph. Even if he throws an object, or increases it to it's max acceleration. It would drop dead once it hit two hundred and one feet. Joseph can only control one piece of physical material at a time. Even if something he is possessing like a sword, shatters in to many pieces, he can still only use one at a time.

The next ability of this rune, is the ability to form a spectral hand of sorts, and carry with it a another, different rune of power, which it can place somewhere. This hand can be summoned at will, and has the ability to take magical runes, such as those on his staff and bring them somewhere else. Ie. Joseph summons the spectral hand, and it grabs a pentagram of protection from his staff and places it on the ground. Where it will grow with him in the center, and protect Joseph from spiritual and a couple magical attacks. Or it could place one of his sleeping runes on another person putting them sleep if they cannot resist it. This hand can be active for ten turns in a row, and besides a one post cool down time it has no other limitations. It can only really be used to place runes. It does not cause Joseph to loose his arms abilities.

The first of Joseph's other runes, is a pentagram. Often mistaken for use in the occult, this pentagram by no means has any ties to satan. It is actually a symbol of protection. Were it to be inverted that would be a different story. This symbol, is carved in the amount of five on Joseph's staff. When activated on the ground Via his spectral hand. It grows to be a circle eight feet in radius. Protecting him like a barrier from spiritual enemies, entering the protective circle. As well as magical spells and effects of minor to very weak mediums from entering. Vampires of D ranking and lower also can't enter the circle. Nor can their revenants. This circle is not portable, and lasts only five posts. This can also be used to trap unholy or spiritual enemies inside of it. Making them unable to escape from it. It's specific measurements for protection are an eight foot radius. Going upwards eight feet from the ground and finishing off with a roof. Obviously the pentagram itself gives off the same protective qualities.
Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) Spell-Shadow-Acceptablecopy-4

The next rune for Joseph is a rune of light creation, which can do one of two things. Either it creates a medium bright light for twelve posts, useful for illumination purposes only. It lights up a forty foot radius around it. This rune can be put on anything. Literally, another person, the air, water, or a physical object. Or, all the light it would use in twelve posts of illumination could be used in just one in a giant condensed flash. Blinding every one in a forty foot radius from the rune. Except those in the area that Joseph wants to remain immune to the attack. The people who are blinded are blinded for one of their posts. Unable to use their eyes for that amount of time.

Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) The_runes_speak_to_us_by_Keepinschtum

The final rune(s) that joseph knows how to create are a pair of runes that go hand in hand, and are almost always used together. The twin hourglass runes as they are named. The right eye's pupil and iris takes on the shape and color of the image below. the left eye, becomes entirely black, and has a white hourglass for a pupil.
Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) Hourglass_of_mortality_by_the_blind_artist
When the first hourglass, the black pupil rune is activated. It slows down things around Joseph giving him more time to perceive them. When the other hourglass is activated it literally increases Joseph's physical speed and reactions to level two abilities. Giving Joseph an increased speed as the world round him slows down. not because time itself is slowing, but because in his mind, his perception of it, it is. Needless to say, being able to view things in slow motion gives him more time to plan a reaction, while his speed is also increased for the duration of the time. This ability lasts for only three posts, and both runes must be activated at the same time for it to work. It takes one post before these runes will start to work for him, after he has activated it. This ability is so intense that it can only be used once a week, and a splitting head ache lasts for at least two hours after he is done using this ability. Pain killers help to relieve it and shorten the time.

Natural Eyesight: Joseph's eyes have, as he would describe them, been cursed. In a failed attempt to cheat a demon out of some of his power, and see in to the future. Well, he certainly got his wish. Or rather his fathers wish. As he was not more than the guinea pig in this whole ordeal. The demon who had overpowered and outsmarted Joseph's father could have killed any of them, could have just left ignoring them completely. But apparently this entity had a sense of humor. Or something like that. As he left young Joseph with eyes that would be able to see in to the future. But only a specific part of it. Every living thing in front of Joseph began to wither once this cursed vision took place. Everyone seemed old and frail, terribly disfigured, and always just a step away from death. Even himself. The trees all wilted the flowers withered, beauty was no longer something he would ever see. However, these eyes were not without their uses. He can detect vampires and other immortal creatures on sight, being able to see them not aging. Though in the cases of undead, one might expect him to enjoy seeing them, the only supposedly beautiful things left for him to see. But they would be wrong. As the undead appear to him like something abandoned by time, a sad, wretched cold corpse unable to rejoin the flow of the way things should be, clinging desperately to it's horrendous nature, and it's mockery of life. He see's them in shirt, as unnatural disgusting things. He can even tell if some other kind of monster is near him by the speed at which they age in front of him. If that specific monster only had increased longevity as opposed to immortality. Unbeknownst to the demon when he cursed him, he accidentally made it easier for Joseph to see the flow of time so to speak. Having been able to instantly tell if a creature was outside of it or not, and constantly being forced to watch the image of life flowing through it at super high speeds He later discovered after attempting his "time slowing" rune ability. While as stated before time is not actually affected. His perception of time is. The only reason why he has in fact been able to use that ability at such a young age, is because he is already naturally just plain better at perceiving the way things flow through time.

Joseph is literally only able to inscribe the twelve runes listed on his staff at any one point at a time. At least for now. Each of them taking a bit of his will power to force in to being imbued with actual power when he engraves them on his staff. Or rather will power to condense there power and keep them there tell there released, forming a sort of prison he can let loose at any time for them. As such, given the intense amount of will power to create twelve of these runes, he finds that after the actual creation of the rune, the prison there power is kept in is easy to maintain. Require nothing but the desire to not let them go. Even able to retain these runes in his sleep. But to add even a single more rune would be pushing it. As it would slowly eat away at his mind and require a minor, but constant always present attention to keep it in check. Not allowing him to sleep or even day dream. Without possibly releasing a powerful rune. Overtime as one exercises their abilities and their minds grow stronger. more runes can be maintained without consequence. However, As said before, Joseph is still a young and inexperienced Rune Smith even though he is talented. The rune on his hand does not count towards this number as it is permanent, and created to be sealed in to flesh.  When a rune is used it disappears completely from his staff. It must be inscribed again before it can be used. Each rune takes an hour of concentration to engrave, except for the runes involving his "Time slow" ability. These take two hours each and bot hare necessary for the effect to take place. His spectral hand can only grab a rune and move fifty feet in one post. If he wishes to place a rune, any other than his possession rune, more than fifty feet it would take a post before it would be active. Without a steady teacher in the supernatural, or at least a wiser mentor, someone to keep him on track Joseph struggles in learning new runes, especially since he practices new ones only very seldom and alone in the forest. It is doubtable he will be able to learn any more by himself very soon. Though with time, it is certain that he will be able to learn at least a few more. Joseph can choose to dispel any runes he has carved or has activated at any time.

Guns: Joseph can use his pistol and shotgun very well, having been trained to shoot since a young age, mainly because it was a hobby of his. But also because his father figured that a quick gun would be an excellent addition to Joseph's repertoire of skills. With his pistol he can hit bulls eyes at about one hundred yards. With his shotgun he rarely misses what he aims at so long as the target is within thirty feet. He is equally skilled with guns.

Artistic: Joseph having dedicated his life, under his fathers tutelage, learned the very fine arts skills needed to be a rune smith. Able to carve, or draw with extreme precision and accuracy the objects in his mind. Making carbon copies of things easily if he knows them by heart or has practiced them for a while.

Organization: Unaffiliated

Personality: Joseph is a rather dark figure, in both mind and appearance. An unfortunate past has left him with little to be bright and sunny about. However, after his escape he has gained a sort of adventures attitude. He will not hesitate to take on an enemy, even a supernatural one, and while he enjoys a good thrill and especially an amazing site. Even a battle here and there, he will not risk himself needlessly. While Joseph has the ability to take pity on a person, he is also filled with a consuming rage, he struggles to find reasons to keep it at bay. It is doubtable, that there are many who would want to be friends with him. Even if they did, it is even less likely that Joseph would want them as friends. Trusting virtually no one, and not expecting to increase that amount in the near future. He has a special distaste for authority figures, even more so corrupt ones. Hating them with every fiber of his being for abusing their power over other people. If Joseph were to come across a cop doing this, he would most likely find a way to seek revenge of some sort against him or her. While he is aware of the supernatural, and a little disgusted by most of it. He is not afraid of it per say. The supernatural in his life has always been just natural to him. Though of course, he has never met a vampire higher than level D. Or advanced lycans, or truly fearful monsters of any kind. He knows they exist and knows that they should be avoided. In a fight with them it is safe to say he would indeed fear for his life. Against lower tier monsters not so much. Joseph even considers normal humans a threat. Seeing no reason to underestimate them. Especially considering they are the dominating species on the earth. He will do all in his power to avoid a fight. Unless he needs to or he can profit from it. Joseph while having some pride in his abilities is a humble and modest person. He will take low paying manual labor jobs, or a few supernatural issues down for a greater sum. Not considering them above his stature or anything. Currently Joseph is struggling between a path of either light or darkness. His abilities being powerful, and him full well knowing it. He wants to be good, out of personal choice, but he also seems to struggle with finding a reason to be kind, merciful, and charitable. Why should he give something to the world it had never given him? At times he will switch between lighter and darker choices. Often taking joy in killing an enemy, enjoy the feel of power over them, very greatly indeed sometimes. Other times, especially if children are involved. Helping a family out for free. Be it, taking care of a ghost problem, for little charge or mowing their lawn for free. When speaking with other people. He talk with deep and no nonsense tones, matched with a cold and uninviting expression. Often times unintentionally intimidating others. Even more often purposefully doing it.

Rank: Journeyman Rune Smith

Biography: We begin Joseph's history, with his ancestors. More specifically, the court supernatural expert, in the employ of one of Britain's earlier kings. This was before christianity came in to the country when such things as magic were considered ok. This man had been studying the ancient runes of their people, and the properties behind them. It was unfortunate he did not have the chance to travel much outside of his country. As there was a great store of missing runes, from other places. Like egypt, france, asia, pretty much every culture had their own symbols that they believed held power. Though regardless, he started to put their powers to use, the limited ones he had that is. Most people called him a wizard, but he was not a wizard he would say. He did not cast spells. A combination of the rune and his will power gave certain powers to him to use. Unfortunately, it was a slow process. Always needing to scribe the rune somewhere before hand. Such as on a sheet of papyrus or the ground they would be using the next day, in order for it to work. Regardless he was able to use these powers to effectively keep at bay certain creatures of the darkness, and at the time he was beloved by the people. Being brought to the king, he was given the position of court magic user. Now having all his needs taken care of, he began to find other ways of spending his time. Such as training a few apprentices to help protect the kingdom. After a few years, and when he was rarely ever needed to scribe runes somewhere, also having reached on older age, and not fit to travel so much anymore. He started to experiment with his own runes. Dedicating years at a time to create just one. Imbuing it with his will power, and his life. For at the completion of the rune, he gave up his life to empower it, and make it meaningful. Using his vast knowledge of the supernatural to accomplish this feat. However, the twist, is that this rune could only be used by men of blood relation to the man who created it. As per his desire. Luckily he had a son. A son with a passion for runes like his father.

Eventually the king of the land, the son of the king who hired his father, slowly started to get rid of the rune Smiths, Telling them that they weren't needed anymore, and to use their abilities only upon pain of death. This king was growing afraid that this small group of men would amass enough popularity to dethrone him. So, instead of kill them and create an uproar he merely claimed they were useless, and a danger to normal folk. So slowly the rune smith's lost both fame and power. As some of them were killed off for practicing their abilities.  Others just giving up entirely and leaving a peaceful normal life. All records of them being destroyed to avoid this happening again in the future. This king being very confident in his line ruling for years to come. But there were a few. The man who had started this all, his family, which was actually quite large, refused to give up their birth rites as rune smith. So they fled in to sparsely populated lands. And pooling their power they created a safe house with which they could safely hone their skills. they decided to keep their teachings only in the family, and so it was that they traveled as vast as they could, culminating stores of knowledge and improving the powers they knew of for years. Until the same mark on Joseph's hand, was perfected, and given the same abilities as he has now. The rune smith's were also able to use the rune of their family to transport other runes. No being much more efficient, and quicker, they could instantly summon runes and put them to use, making everything they did ten times faster than before.

Eventually, Britain became unsafe for them. As people were numbering larger and the families old house had now been absorbed in to a town. They knew they could not stay long and remain unseen by the people. Especially now that the land was christian, technically so were they, and while their powers can understandably be mistaken for witch craft, they are not. They suspected that it was possible to gain favor once again, and in fact would be burnt at the stake if made public. But they also didn't want to risk a repeat in history, but this time, in which the king of their land simply outright killed them. So, they fled, to America. Where they used the stores f gold and silver they had amassed from doing various jobs under the table, or outside of the country. To buy passage and to survive in the new nation. Many of them perishing, but their family lingering still. After the hardships of colonization had started going well their family grew a little more. Much of their power had been lost, as they were forced to keep their abilities for the most part secret.

Needless to say the survived throughout the ages and all the way in to the modern. Growing a little larger, but not by much. Increasing their powers slowly back to their former glory as supernatural abilities like these, or rather people claiming to have supernatural abilities became more and more common. They were able to more openly train and seek out knowledge. Not that they wanted to be open about it, but now if they were caught no big deal. Anyone who saw them and told other people would simply be labeled as crazy. Especially so the closer the modern day came about. Then in 1994, Joseph Magnus was born. To his father Clark Magnus. His mother, Karen Magnus died when he was five, of cancer. He also had a younger brother, his junior by two years.

Like all their family he was taught their abilities from a very young age. This training was very lax however when he was young. During that age he actually had a few friends and went to normal school. Hung out with them a little even. However his brother was always his best friend throughout these times. After five years of training and being 14, he was finally powerful enough and mature enough to rise to the level of apprentice. When this happened his father's plans for him finally came about in to the light. At least for Joseph. He was to be his father's guinea pig, in his magical experiments. Most of them for a long time failing sometimes hurting Joseph. He asked his father to stop but his lust for power was far greater than his desire to protect his son.

He dropped out of high school, and started to train in using guns as per his father's request. His family training becoming his main priority and his friends slowly dwindling to none. Sadly Joseph had no hope of any saving him. For even while he was injured during his fathers experiments he was always able to be healed in time, or if they didn't have enough he had to call in sick in order to heal him more, before anyone could see him.

Eventually his father thought that he had struck gold with his summoning and trapping rituals. He began to search for someone who could help him to achieve his goal, a master of the occult, one capable of summing a dark creature of dreadful power. He came across that person, or vampire, who goes by the name of Almos Lorand. Who agreed to help him perform the ritual just so long as he could watch and see what happened. Helping him prepare for it and giving him the information that he needed to make a human sacrifice. He decided this would be his youngest song. He was seeking to pry out the powers of foresight from a demon. He sought to forcefully summon a demon and imprison him until he bestowed on his son, (and if that worked himself next) the gift of foresight. So it was that Joseph and his brother were taken to the ritual with the spectator Almos Lorand near by and watching. Where he claimed right before he killed his youngest son in front of Joseph that there was no sacrifice great enough to not be worth the further advancement of the art. Joseph collapsed next to his brother in shock as the ritual began, unable to comprehend loosing his only friend. However the demon was not so easily tamed. Indeed, he did have to struggle a little to break free of the prison Joseph's father had set up for him. But breaking it relatively quickly. His father not knowing his prison had been broken so soon demanded the demon give his son the gift of foresight, and that he would return him when he was done with him. The demon then cursed Joseph's eyes as listed above. The process of them turning in to his current eyes was very excruciating. The father he also cursed. Forcing him to see his own death. In every possible outcome it could happen. Their spectator all but forgotten in the light of what had happened to them.

From then on Joseph grew to hate his father even more, and had planned to kill him when the opportunity arose. His father slowing growing madder and madder as he was driven insane trying to prevent his own death, finally unable to take it anymore. Shortly after Joseph turned 18, he killed himself. A bullet to the head. Joseph stumbled across this scene in frustration and anger. He should have been the one to end this madman's life! He should have gotten his revenge on him for treating him so horribly all these years, murdering his brother, and cursing his very vision. He felt robbed, cheated, and more furious than ever. His father's final act to his son, being another blow to the face.

Joseph simply left after this taking his fathers car and guns. As well as a good sum of money, and a book. A book containing all of the runes possible for him to learn in the future. He had only accomplished a few runes, there were so many more to learn. In time, they would hopefully come to him. Joseph earned his living taking manual labor jobs, and sometimes helping to investigate the paranormal and drive off minor spirits. Four or five times killing a vampire or other supernatural creature. At first being appalled by the thought of taking something's life. Then struggling to not enjoy it as much as he did. Only one of these vampires being a level d. The rest f's.

Joseph is currently enjoying exploring the world right now. Always having dreamed of being free to go where he pleased, and having missed out on this as a child. He finds the most solace he has ever received is a calming stroll or camp out by a beautiful place of nature.

Not sure if that riffle is going to stay where you want it. Maybe explain it better?

In the case of a knife or bullet throw, each of them assumed to be aerodynamic. They will fly at a level one speed. Something like a sword max human. It is subject to the two hundred foot range as well their natural momentum dying as soon as it hits two hundred and one feet, and falling flat to the ground. If an object he is possessing for lack of a better word, shatters in to pieces Joseph can only manipulate once piece of it at a time. Thus he could not wield a thousand sword shards, only one. If he were to try bending the object he was possessing, like a metal rod, or rip a door handle off it's hinges. Then a level one strength would possible to use with this ability. The same goes for a sword, it would swing at level one strength. Speed, is only max human.

Let's make the speed and stuff move at normal speeds for what a thing would be at and leave it at that. I'm surprisingly okay with everything else.

Weird wrote:The next ability of this rune, is the ability to form a spectral hand of sorts, and carry with it a another, different rune of power, which it can place somewhere.

The next rune for Joseph is a sleeping rune. Or rather it is a rune, of domination. But he considers it nothing more than something used to put people to sleep. In the hands of a more experienced man it has the power to lay a persons mind dormant and leave their body under your control. Similar to vampiric hypnotism but weaker in the sense it is easier to resist, and harder to do. Joseph has only been able to use this ability thus far to put a persons mind AND body to sleep. Even just that requiring a great amount of forcing his will to override someone elses. If he were more powerful and experienced he would be able to put the persons mind to sleep but leave their body awake, and open to his commands. This slumber lasts for ten of their posts, (as in, after they would have posted had they been posting, ten times, they will wake up) unless they are slapped awake or put in to similar or worse pain. This ability can only be used once every three posts. So after it is used once, three more posts must pass before it can be used again. People of exceptional will, or in an exceptional amount of emotional distress can throw off this attack against their mind. It does not affect the undead at all.  These runes are also numbered five on his staff. When in use on a person, it will show up on their skin wherever it first made contact with him. Until the affects of the rune wear off.

Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) The_runes_speak_to_us_by_Keepinschtum

The final rune that Joseph has learned how to create is a rune of slowing down ones perception of time. This gives him an increased reaction speed. Being level two, as it slows down the world around him. But not such an increase in speed as it only slows down the way he perceives the world, not time itself. His speed increases to the very teetering edge of level one when this ability is active. It can be active for only three posts before it wears off. This is such an intense ability it requires one week, before it can be used again, and takes an entire post to put in to place and be used. Using up both runes in the process. As his spectral hand places them on to his eyes. They will replace his pupils which are a normally a grey hourglass look with the rune he uses for this ability. They will fade instantly when this ability is up.
Joseph Magnus (death by dumpster) Hourglass_of_mortality_by_the_blind_artist

Sleepy time is going to be useless in practical situations. Everyone has indomitable will, no exceptions.

Not really sure why being able to perceive things makes you faster. Just because you can see the bullet doesn't mean you can dodge it.

Sleep wrote:Natural Eyesight: Joseph's eyes have, as he would describe them, been cursed. In a failed attempt to cheat the entity known as Chronos out of some of his power, and see in to the future. Well, he certainly got his wish. Or rather his fathers wish. As he was not more than the guinea pig in this whole ordeal. Chronos who had overpowered and outsmarted Joseph's father could have killed any of them, could have just left ignoring them completely. But apparently this entity had a sense f humor. Unbeknownst to Chronos when he cursed him, he accidentally made it easier for Joseph to see the flow of time so to speak. Having been able to instantly tell if a creature was outside of it or not. He later discovered after attempting his "time slowing" rune ability. While as stated before time is not actually affected. His perception of time is. The only reason why he has in fact been able to use that ability at such a young age, is because he is already naturally just plain better at perceiving the way things flow through time.

Kind of interesting. Going to fact check your Chronos stuff when it comes to biography time.

Nom wrote:Joseph is literally only able to inscribe the twelve runes listed on his staff at any one point at a time.

Guns: Joseph can use his pistol and shotgun very well, having been trained to shoot since a young age, mainly because it was a hobby of his. But also because his father figured that a quick gun would be an excellent addition to Joseph's repertoire of skills.

How good is he with a gun? Do we have specifics?

jygkgkjhu wrote:Organization: Unaffiliated

Fuck the police wrote:Biography: We begin Joseph's history, with his ancestors. More specifically, the court supernatural expert, in the employ of one of their earlier kings.

What country is this, exactly. Plenty of places had kings back then.

England? wrote:Eventually the king of the land, the son of the king who hired his father, slowly started to get rid of the rune Smiths, Telling them that they weren't needed anymore, and to use their abilities only upon pain of death.

They suspected that it was possible to gain favor once again.

There we go. Now we have a country. Skipping around a bit, though. Keep it in check.

Coffee wrote:Needless to say the survived throughout the ages and all the way in to the modern.

Pretty sudden. Not sure why you need to kill the mother.

Seems lazy wrote:Like all their family he was taught their abilities from a very young age. This training was very lax however when he was young. During that age he actually had a few friends and went to normal school. Hung out with them a little even.

It's all coming together now. Dead mother, asshole dad, mostly unexplained superpowers. This is EVA!

Get in the fucking robot wrote:He dropped out of high school, and started to train in using guns as per his father's request.

Seeking to pry out the powers of some of the oldest entities known to man kind. Creatures that were once worshipped as God's. Or rather in this case a Titan. Famous for his time traveling abilities. He sought to forcefully summon Chronos, and imprison him until he bestowed on his son, (and if that worked himself next)  the gift of foresight. However Chronos was not so easily tamed. Indeed, he did have to struggle a little to break free of the prison Joseph's father had set up for him. Only having been summoned because he wished to teach these men a lesson about messing with him. His father not knowing his prison had been broken so soon demanded Chronos give his son the gift of foresight, and that he would return him when he was done with him. Chronos then cursed Joseph's eyes as listed above. The process of them turning in to his current eyes very excruciating. The father he also cursed. Forcing him to see his own death. In every possible outcome it could happen.

Don't think Chronos could do that, being sort of dead by this time. Dead or in Tartarus, depending on who you ask. Either way, probably not going to be summoning him.

Nyeh wrote:From then on Joseph grew to hate his father even more, and had planned to kill him when the opportunity arose. He should have gotten his revenge on him for treating him so horribly all these years, he felt robbed, cheated, and more furious than ever.

He finds the most solice he has ever received is a calming stroll or camp out by a beautiful place of nature.

This guy is different from the others you've made so far. I applaud you for going out of your comfort zone.

Changed up the time Rune thingies, the sleeping ones to runes of light manipulation, and turned Chronos in to a demon. aided in the summoning by our very own Almos Lorand Smile Who agreed to all of this. ALso added a strap to the shotgun. I think that's everything I needed to do.

SO, order of business comes about in abundant rays of harumph and galore.

First thing, the Winchester shotgun, what caliber does it use? 10 gauge, or 12 gauge?

The British kings, as far as my extrapolation goes (particularly English ones I am thinking). Which era are we talking about? Because rune smithing under my understanding, falls PRETTY closely to witchcraft (even though they are distinct things, but your average Medieval lord won't make such distinctions). That is given England, Wales, Ireland, and subsequently Scotland, became Christianized, hence the aversion to magic or anything even close to a whiff of it. Being referred to as a magic user is as damning as being a heretic in those times, especially to be publicly acknowledged for it. People would be uncomfortable around those kinds of scions of the arcane.

This is even worse in the Protestant era, under Cromwell's rule, where being accused of witchcraft, even lightly, would get you VERY closely looked at. And it was easy to warrant suspicions for even holding strange things that your average person should spot. So there is a few paradoxes in that regard, as to whom exactly would want to hire a Rune Smith under their own scrutiny. Supernatural experts don't tend to dabble in the dark arts (even though rune smithing isn't) themselves, and tend to just know how to spot it, as far as things go. Scrutiny would be heavy, and if we're talking back when England was Catholic, would get Papal presence involved if a King of all people even associated himself with such a person, scrutiny is heavy with persons of such bearings.

Your history bears to need more details that would put my concerns to rest, before you'd warrant a nice red approval from myself. Address those nicely enough, and you're golden.

I was actually thinking this would all take place before England was christianized, probably meaning that they were made up majorly of Pagans. Thus, probably not giving a hoot about witchcraft, most likely practicing some themselves. But yes, I am aware that when they do become christian such practices would probably lead to a burning at the stake. But as my history sits I do give no mention of when this happened. I shall go so now, thank you very much for your help Zulu Very Happy

There you are my good man, I have gone with ten gauge, added in the christian movement to the history, explaining in the beginning it was before christianity came in to the country. Hope that satisfies.

I am not fond of rune magic like this, nor am I a fan of ripping off multiple, already established characters' abilities and signature equipment (though we have all done that at some point, I suppose). I am also iffy on characters like this being only 20.

But since the tough critics seem alright with it, I will look past that.

Thanks meabh Smile And I've actually only made him twenty so that he can inexperienced, and thus curb his abilities until I get him some Sp. I'm very greatly that you've gone out of your comfort zone for this character however.

Permission to edit Joseph? He has a soul and I'd like to see if I can't use that to expand his rune abilities a little bit.

Since you have no defined increases, you'll have to put this up for approval if you do.

Ya, thats not a problem at all. I'll just post the abilitie(s) I'd like in a post and then just integrate them in to Joseph from there if that sounds good. Rather than edit the actual sheet itself.

Other than that, I don't think 1 is going to be enough to actually add anything.
