Character's Appearance

Deacon Saliti Morgan Saliti11

Deacon Saliti is first thought of as a man who seems to be constantly in thought, and is not one for words or action. However if you can look past the exceedingly monotonous tone of his eyes, you would be able to see that he is in fact unable to resist the urge to constantly take in his environment, weather to appreciate it, or to sate some paranoiac urge is unknown. What is know however, is that without a doubt Saliti is a very well kept, organized man, who is as equally devoted to the holy mother as he is to breathing.  This can be seen in a number of ways, namely in that his clothing, is kept first and foremost functional and well maintained, and secondly always decorated with just the right touch of formality and individuality so as to blend together in to a very well deserved, aura of piety and reverence, complimented by the spark of humanity that is often added to what is important to us, so as to become visibly and undeniably beautiful.

The devotions to the holy mother lie in his miraculous medal, a chain of consecration symbolizing his desire and willingness to enslave himself to Mary, and the rosaries which he ties around his wrist, and his belt, and for the latter very specifically much like a knight would wear his sword. The medal alone, would be enough to establish him as one of the Militia of the Immaculata. The chain of consecration now cements this idea, and tells one that he is fully willing to accept and to beg to be chained to the holy mother. So that she may do her works on him, in him, and through him to the world. Lastly on the visible spectrum, the rosaries represent his intense desire to meditate through the immaculate heart of Mary, on the mysteries of the faith, and in doing so, draw closer to Jesus through the guidance of his mother Mary. What is not visible to most, but is still always present, is finally, a tattoo of the sacred heart of Mary, placed over his own heart. This is perhaps the most meaningful of all the symbols that he places upon himself, as it shows his constant desire to unite his heart with the sacred heart of Mary, which in turn is perfectly united with Christ. Thus becoming completely and totally united with God himself, In Excelsis In Aeternum (to God in the Highest, for Eternity).

To the surprise of the modern world, is often fitting for a deacon to dress much like a priest. With the clerics, and even the roman collar. The only thing that sets him apart from the average priest is the tunic he places over his cassock, which is red, and adorned with various crucifixes throughout the garment. His gloves, which are white and adorned with black crosses on the outsides are on the insides lined with a very gripping leather, and underneath most of the material entirely are small amounts of metal sitting atop each knuckle.

Moving to the actual physical structure of the good deacon. We see that he is rather bland, compared to most of the battle hardened warrior clergy that find themselves in the True Cross organization. He bears no scars from combat, save but a few here and there from the odd projectile. But nothing like most members, which is often a terrible gash or crater caused by the unfortunate chance meeting with one of the hell spawn at point blank. His hair like his clothes is kept very maintained, it is not allowed to grow very long, and while he does not do much with it, he makes sure that it is always as presentable as is reasonably possible under the circumstances. His face is as one might assume clean-shaven, with teeth white enough to match even the best dentist’s.

Structurally speaking deacon Saliti stands at a towering 6'7. His build, is quite impressive, if not huge. Nearly every inch of this frame is wrapped in a strangely dense muscle or thick sinew, no pound can be found on his frame that is left wanting or being wasted.

Personality Information

Deacon Saliti is a man who is passionate about Christ, and passionately searches him through the holy mother. Who he loves as dearly as a child loves his own mother on this earth, if not more. God is not some abstract force, something above and always beyond him. He is his rightful lord, king, indeed his friend, and without a doubt his father. Zealot status is not something he would use to describe himself, but to the world around him he would be considered this, his faith is absolutely unwavering.  However, he is not closed minded, hateful, or even resentful of other people of different faiths. He believes there is a light of God, a kernel of truth, in every religion, and he finds it easier to dwell on this than he does there short comings and downfalls. He is especially interested in certain theories and ideas of Buddhism.

The second of his passions, is the passion of voice, language, speaking, everything to do with communication, songs, and poems especially. His voice is in short, superb, his mastery of the spoken word and language itself, all lead to his ability to sing, or persuade, or give a speech with such skill that few could surpass him. It is his passion to write poems in his spare time, and sometimes songs too.

Saliti's third passion is his combat prowess, loving, adoring firearms even. He has been partaking in their use and practice since he was very little, and has gain rarely a day without using them in some way shape or form. He is extremely skilled with these weapons, and possibly one of the greatest shots in the order. Supernatural opponents are hard fought to dodge his bullets, even though they are perhaps beyond that speed themselves. He attributes this to years of experience, natural talent, and his rather inhuman reflexes. Martial and melee combat also mean a great deal to him, though not as much as his beloved firearms. These skills are still honed, and treasured for their use on the field.

Saliti’s passions may be limited to these things, but he still enjoys other activities quite a bit. Gardening is one example, he likes to enjoy gardens more than tend them but he finds peace in gardening and enjoys it’s fruits quite thoroughly. Karate is another; He enjoys gaining an increased mastery over his body which also gives him a sense of peace.

Strangely Saliti suffers from certain fears that seem illogical for a man who fights with creatures from nightmares on a very regular basis. An intense dislike for spiders is one, two, centipedes especially, but all other insects of the like sort. He considers them very creepy, and none to pleasing for the eye. Following this is an intense dislike for a lot of modern music, namely rap and pop, with a lifelong disdain for country.

Chivalry, and tradition are both sticking points in Satili’s life, and things that he refuses to life without, he doesn’t enjoy a lot of the effect of Vatican II, and still maintains a desire to do as much clerical work as possible in Latin, to spite them in a bit of friendly mockery. He also vehemently proclaims that one should be very traditional when dealing with the sacraments. Such as, genuflection on two knees before an exposed monstrance, and receiving the Eucharist only on ones tongue.

Chivalry he believes, is dead, but at the same time, he doesn’t care. He considers women especially subject to the rule of chivalry, and would rather they not engage directly in the fight against vampiric and monstrous opponents. But he would not think to stop them if they so chose to do so, he need only remind himself of Saint Joan of Arc, and how she is in fact the patron of soldiers. However such things as letting ladies go before him in any manner that is good, like getting food for example, he in not willing to budge on.

Holding open doors for them and doing whatever physical tasks for them he can so they don’t have to do them fall under this inflexible line as well. Above all he is loathe to strike or insult a woman, or even raise his voice to them. Treasures more beautiful than any other one earth is what he would call them gifted to us men even though we are unworthy to receive such things from God himself. Deacon Saliti is perhaps a model to represent how a chaste man lives a normal very happy life. He denies his natural attraction to women in no way whatsoever, and in fact embraces it. Making sure to appreciate the beauty of every woman he comes across. However, he is sure to not let this appreciation turn in to something that it should not be, which is abuse of them and their sacred image for his selfish pleasure.

Staliti treats his fellow agents like his brothers and sisters and good friends, he treats the world in a very gently manner, treating all men like equals to himself and being as merciful to them as he can afford to be. It would be inaccurate to describe Saliti as extremely nice, for he is more polite, and non judgmental, what he thinks on the inside may very well not match up with his outward demeanor. It is very hard to impress him, as he has “been around the block more than a few times.” He makes acquaintances easily, but truly deep friendships are difficult to start with him. Not for any reason other than he believes one should only become great friends with those he can trust most in the world. Which are generally just not that many people.

Saliti is quite a responsible individual, taking his job very seriously and never really slacking off on it. This is not to say he isn't above a daring maneuver when this is called for however; for though Saliti is not foolish, he is still considerably brave; especially in the heat of combat, and he is willing to take risks for the promise of potentially great payoff. Especially if these risks might help to protect his fellow agents, whom he tends to like and wants to come home with. Towards the undead however, Saliti shows no mercy, and indeed, does not consider them worthy of even conversation. He has no qualms about killing any kind of monster, but would prefer to not kill normal men if he can help it.

There are some things that will set Saliti off, one such thing is insulting his lady, or honestly, any lady. Saliti would at this point, warn them to apologize, and not do it again, next, threaten the offender, and finally follow through on that threat, which will without a doubt be some means of bodily harm. Doubtably serious, but nothing they will shrug off. He does not so much care if one insults himself however, his church or even his God. They are strong, they will take care of themselves. But no one has the right to insult his mother, or her daughters, or his sisters. Such anger is not limited to those who insult women however, this will apply in varying degrees to anyone who is defenseless and innocent, children especially. One of the numerous reasons Saliti fights so avidly and so hard against the demonic forces of the world, viewing them as not only unholy, but as taking advantage against weaker opponents.

Saliti takes nothing more seriously, or importantly than his current charge. His duty, one might say. That is, to protect, his bishop. Since then beginning of the deaconite, archbishops have always taken deacons on as their right hand men. This is true in some way today, still having intense loyalty to the bishops of their area and often going where they are assigned to help out where the bishop needs. Saliti, though not helping out a parish of any sort, has been assigned a duty that he will die before he fails. That is, protecting the life of the bishop or Mother who leads True Cross, it is his responsibility to shadow them at all times when he can, never leave their side, and always, always take any bullet sent their way, and eliminate any threat that shows itself to them. He is more than willing to sacrifice his life to make sure that happens, and take down whatever, and whoever he must.

Saliti is a married man, and approached his marriage with the same dedication and seriousness that he does his job. Though he and his wife are both willing to die for their faith, and have both agreed that their charge comes first, and that duty will always outweigh the other. For as much as they love each other they take this very seriously. Saliti is extremely protective of his wife, and suffers absolutely no harm or abuse towards her under any circumstance. To say their relationship is healthy would be an insult, and though they have been married for a couple years now Saliti still firmly proclaims that he is just as madly in love with his wife as the day he met her. Though they have not yet had any children, Saliti hopes one day to have a daughter, and is very open to more children.

Equipment Information

Sword and Dagger: These are primarily steel, though they contain silver components in their center, starting at about mid blade and ending with the tip. these are most obviously blessed. The dagger is kept in a combined sheath with his gun holster, and the sword is on his left side, neighboring a few spare magazines.

Guns: Sig P220: The sig p220 is an semi-automatic pistol which holds ten bullets in it's magazines. These magazines are of a .45 ACP caliber. Saliti carries this gun on the holster attached to his belt. He also carries six spare cartridges of ammo. Three of these are kept on the right side of his belt, three more on the left. There is one magazine in the clip at all times. Two of these magazines are blessed and silver.

Vest: Underneath his assortment of clothing is a bullet proof vest. Type three protection, allowing him plenty of flexibility yet still offering decent protection against most forms of bullets. This also helps to protect Saliti from knives, punches, clubs, etc.

Bible/Scripture: Saliti carries a single bible on him to perform his only exorcism technique. This one is enough to accomplish it; and since he can just use the one ability he doesn't need anymore. Though as already stated, their is scripture already placed strategically around him in his clothing, enough so to perform this ability as well. The bible is kept mainly as a spare, in case something happens to these pages.

Character Abilities
Statistics.

Physical abilities: Max Human
Regenerative potential: Normal Human
Durability: Level 1

Feath enhancement: Saliti is only able to use a single Faeth ability, and has dedicated himself entirely to perfecting the technique. This is, enhancing his own physical movement through faeth. Due to a carefully tailored series of clothes, Saliti is able to enhance his own physical abilities by adding faeth enhanced scripture to his own movements.

This is to say, that inside of his clothing is the scripture, and bringing this tightly around himself he is able to use the scripture to enhance his own physical abilities by not just using his own natural skill set. But by increasing this with the addition of faeth fueled pages. For example. Saliti has his fist tightly wrapped in scriptures to make a form fitting glove. If he were to throw a punch, he would use his ability to control the scripture, to enhance his own movements, a push, or, aid, one might say.

This allows him the ability to not just rely on his on abilities, and instead combine faeth, and skill, to perform better than either could alone. The obvious drawback to this is the amount of damage Saliti's body would sustain if done improperly, but this is for the most part not a problem. As Saliti's intense practice with this technique has not only strengthened his body, but has allowed him to use this technique in such a perfect way that he is able to refrain from sustaining damage for using it.

This technique is so complicated and consuming however, that it was the only one that he could concentrate on throughout all of his years in True Cross. And though he has perfected it, he was unable to pick up any other abilities on top of it. So was the price of such an incredible ability.

Saliti's scripture has moved beyond the normal limitations of maximum human speed and strength, once more thanks to his extreme skill practice in this area. As such it enables Saliti to raise his own abilities to a level two maximum potential. This can safely last for fifteen posts per combat situation. Longer yes, but his endurance with this ability is derived from it's extensive use and practice. In one battle, an effective cool down time would be twenty posts. If he pushes this before it's cool down time or another battle begins, he can do so for five posts, upon the penalty of exhaustion however.

Increase:

This ability has already reached a high level as far as the average is concerned. But it is not totally mastered as of yet. There is one last stage in which the ability becomes even more powerful. With the expenditure of seven SP. Saliti's ability can be raised from level 2 physical abilities, to level 3. His durability and duration remain the same however.

Durability: What has enabled Saliti to gain a supernatural durability for his own body has been his extreme practice moving at supernatural speeds. It was not always so that his body was this strong, and he has suffered many wounds in his time because of this. But after so many years of forcing his body to move past the limits of normal humanity, it has finally adjusted and adapted to become strong enough to deal with the strain it is put under. At least most of the strain. Saliti's muscles and bones have become extremely tough, and extremely hard to harm, in comparison to the normal human's body that is.

Words: He is an adept singer, an avid poet, and a rousing speaker. His knowledge of books is massive, and he has read considerable more than the average person might when they enter ages twice his own (especially in the modern day).

Staliti is prone to praying out loud and quoting biblical, catechetical, saintly, and scholarly phrases because of his love for both speaking, and the lord. He feels this is a very good way to put them together, and he especially enjoys reading at mass.

This love of words did not go long without being accompanied by words of many different types and sorts. Being a native to Germany, his first language was German. His accent is still slightly noticeable but he can get rid of it if he puts in the effort. His second language was Italian, the third English, and lastly some latin. He is currently trying to pick up French but he does not know how long that will take. His fluency in German and Italian is top notch, English is about 95 percent but there are a few things he fails to understand still. Latin is significantly memorized but his lack of finding other people to speak to in it make it not as good as it could be, his French is about 30% along now, not even passable but getting there.

Outdoors: Saliti enjoys gardening to a small degree; he knows a little bit about that and farming. He is quite versed in other outdoor skills as well, like climbing trees, swimming, identifying plants, and of course, hunting. No good hunter however doesn’t know how to camp properly, and so because of this Saliti has gained a few more skills other than just setting up a campsite. Like cooking, for one, building a proper fire. Skinning an animal himself in order to eat, tying proper knots for the proper things, and etc.

Missile combat. Saliti is proficient with pistols and battle rifles, he has practiced countless hours with these weapons and has used them effectively against the overwhelmingly powerful undead that he fights. His own abilities aid him in their use, shooting at higher level vampires like they are normal humans. But combining this with pinpoint accuracy and an uncanny knowledge of the intricate workings of the undead, have made him a force to be reckoned with by anyone.

His melee combat is significantly better than most, even in True Cross. He carrying a short sword and a dagger to accent his martial prowess effectively. As far as hand to hand goes Saliti is an expert striker and knows a good deal of bars, grapples, throws, and etc. Nothing to brag about really, but enough to get by.

Character Biography

Deacon Saliti was an orphan of German descent, his life as he knew it taken away at a young age by a monster, which is the sad tale that most every member of the True Cross organization can truthfully tell you. It is also safe to say that like most of the children who group in the orphanage he developed a strong faith in the lord, and his church. From a very young age though he seemed increasingly called to speak, more specifically, the word of God. When readings were to be performed at the masses or a speech was to be made, he would be the first one to volunteer, but also the first to be volunteered. His passion for the written and spoken might have bordered on the edge of idolatry, had not Saliti unceasingly devoted nearly every moment he could to finding a way to use and pursue this gift of the voice to serve and honor the lord.

Saliti despite this gift was lived quite averagely in the orphanage, gaining neither many friends nor enemies because of this. As while he wasn’t one to slip with words, he would rarely say something mean or unintentionally insulting, but if a debate arose his voice would be the loudest and most passionate of those involved in it, and he would argue tooth and nail to try and achieve victory for his side. This sword, one might say, cut both ways for him. Earning him friends yet loosing him others, but alas, that is just life, and as he well knew you could never please everyone.

Growing up, Saliti knew that while he had a passion for preaching the word of God and knew that he wanted to make himself committed to the church, he also wasn’t called to the priesthood. He felt that his vocation, might lie in the life of one who is consecrated and cloistered, as he enjoyed thoughts and would even get to put his voice to use chanting, and preaching, and reading the gospels for the other brothers and their visitors.

But, that did not appeal to him nearly as much as the vocation of married life, for he was well aware that he would be happiest on this earth with a life, and loving children. For the longest of times he knew that he wanted a daughter to call his own. Yet, while aware that he could survive as just a married man, who wouldn’t be close enough to church to appease his need to serve the faith, he so dearly loved. Which led him to the conclusion that becoming a permanent deacon would be perfect for him, especially as he found out that main role of the deacon was to speak the word of the gospels during the masses, in fact if a deacon is present he is even more obliged to read the gospels than the pope himself is.

Saliti at the young age of 16, decided that he would pursue a career in the True Cross organization, as a permanent Deacon, or herald of the lord, and a warrior. He did not know when or where he would possibly find a wife, but he trusted in the lord, and in his divine plan, and did not worry about these things too much.

From an even younger age, Saliti had developed a very keen interest in guns, and had made it his goal to be a good gunman. As his life progressed and he branched off in to other various forms of combat, like martial arts and melee weapons training, he came to realize that he did not have a spark for any of these things like he did with missile weapon. Namely, guns of either the ferocious and devastatingly fast sort, or the sort capable of terrifying  destruction with anything that it’s large and very dangerous bullet’s come in to contact with. But, that being said, one should never assume his skills with firearms are limited to thee alone, nay! This is merely his specialty. He also decided to branch off in to sharpshooting, and could function as an effective sniper if the need arises. Shotguns, one of his favorite actually, grenade launchers, harpoons, crossbows even, are all things that he began to ingrain in to his life and his training.

The only melee skills he kept, and even that, just as a request from his teachers, was a high ranking in the single martial arts of karate, and if the need arose, knife fighting could be added to this martial art for him quite effectively.

While his academic, and quite obviously physical skills progressed quite nicely at this time, he spiritual self did not. He grew very obsessed with the material, and trained in no way with the use of faith as a direct weapon. Because he failed to keep his mind sharp, and alert, he began to drift away from Christ and his teachings. This became merely formality, and then, soon enough, a hindrance to his training. A lot of what he held sacred became corrupt as he focused only on the physical, longing for his future wife brought him ideas of lust, a desire to protect the world and others turned in to dreams of wrath for the purpose of vain glory, his voice even, became but a means to an end, this means being specifically to manipulate others, and the ends being his profit regardless of their loss.

He grew very displeased with himself at this time, and there were very few things that he could take joy in, not even the church anymore. As his faith was all but gone, and his desire to find God had been replaced with a desire to question the existence God, by asking himself questions like, if God truly loved me, why would he deny me parents in my life, parents who could undoubtedly help me with what I’m struggling with, and of course he refused to listen to any answers he might discover in his heart.

This would change for him, not slowly, not even a little bit at first, but rather altogether in but a moment. As he sat before the Eucharist, he had truly come to despise his life, and blamed God for not keeping his parents safe for him, he thought that his life couldn’t be complete without parents to look after him, and he couldn’t find his way in life without their help and their guidance. But, as often happens when one is before the blessed sacrament, a revelation was revealed to him while he gazed at the holy mother, holding the infant Jesus to her, and in another statue, holding her arms out to the people in the chapel. A certain verse, from the gospel of John ch. 19 vs. 26-27.

When Jesus the saw his mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son! Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!”

These words struck deep in to Saliti’s heart, and he could not help but put himself in the place of the disciple, he looked upon the sacrament, the true body of Christ given up for him, with his mother standing near by. In that same moment, so many years ago, Jesus gave his mother to us humans, and to us humans he said for us to accept her as our mother. Truly, then, if God could be his father, and Mary would be his mother then indeed was not abandoned, no one who was of Christ would be without parents, he was not hopeless, he was not without love, and he would find the guidance and the direction that he had so long desired in his life.

From this day, Saliti began to strie to love Mary as a mother, to beg her to intercede on his behalf for him, and to work in him to help him become the man that he hoped to be. He was not to be disappointed, as the loving yet guiding and stern hand of a father he found in the voice of God, which talked to him through the scriptures, and the loving nurturing touch of a mother was found in Mary, as he begged her to pray for him and to love him as she might her own child. He truly felt this love returned by the holy mother, as his demons were vanquished in life, and fled before the sight of her. He was not made anew by her power, but the pain, and the vices which plagued him for time beyond his memory would soon fall away, turn to dust, as if they had never been in the first place.

Saliti was speechless as the devil’s hand was ripped from his heart and soul in but a month by the holy queen of heaven; he then did his best to accept and utilize her gifts to the fullest extent. By finally going to confession, and by approaching the other sacraments and his faith life, with love and reverence again, through the holy mother, and her intercession, he was led peerlessly to the heart and will of Jesus Christ. When he began to research how to show ones gratitude for the holy mother, and how best to be with her, he saw the process of consecration. Which was willingly enslaving oneself to Mary, promising to let her do whatever she needed to on you, in you, and through you, to lead you and the world closer to Christ. He immediately accepted the offer from the holy mother and joined in her army, the Militia of the Immaculata. Chaining himself literally on the wrist and brandishing her medallion as constant reminders, and signs of his devotion to our lady. Going so far as to tattoo her sacred heart on to his own heart. So that he would never be able to separate from the love of his blessed mother, and father.

With a new resolve found in the holy mother he affectionately calls, “Meine Maria” every aspect of his life was affected, from his training, to his worship,  to his voice, and to his very mind and heart. Each and every one of these aspects improved and when he finally had to go on his first mission most of his fear was drowned in his ever increasing desire to do the will of his queen. To be a true Knight of the Immaculata, and to drive off the demonic influences which plagued the world with her by his side and in her name for the glory of their Jesus. As is standard, his first mission was an easy one. While mentally, he was shaken up, when the dust cleared and the smoke drifted in to the air, he couldn’t help but smile and let out a little nervous laugh, and then finally a roaring cheer of victory and a praise to his queen who had not only made this possible, but made it worth doing.

Mission after mission, not every one went smoothly, and while most went well there were the usual mishaps, the usual screw-ups, and fatalities. But if Saliti suffered he told almost no one, and his demeanor would rarely change. He simply offered his pain to Christ, and knew in his heart, that even if he could offer Christ the whole world, it would not be worthy of what he has given to us, and will give to us in heaven. So it would not be right of him to complain about his sufferings, nor to let them darken his spirits.

While Saliti was only a few years off from being ordained, he started to court a woman he had known for a very long time. She was a crusader in the ranks of True Cross, and did not plan on being consecrated. They had been friends for years, having grown up together, and when Saliti finally decided that he would become a deacon, rather than a priest. He expressed a romantic interest in her. Something that she returned to him. They were married about six months later, and Saliti was ordained a year after.

Missions went by after this for years, helping him to grow in to a confident and competent fighter. There are few challenges that Saliti will face without an outward show of bravery, and inward state of calmness and confidence. Little did he know, but Saliti had actually become quite the success in True Cross's organization. His combat abilities surpassed by few others, and his mastery of one technique which while seeming useless in the beginning, proved invaluable as he flushed it out, and perfected it. Because of this, he was offered the position of Body Guard, for the leader of True Cross. More importantly than his position however, he was a deacon. And since the very early years of the church the archbishops have always had deacons to act as their eyes and ears, and their hands where they must. He was in truth, a perfect choice for the position.

Deacon Saliti Morgan Empty Re: Deacon Saliti Morgan

Interesting Character, I don't know anything about guns so I'll leave that stuff down to the gun experts we have. The character is well fleshed out, but one question on his personality if you will indulge me: What makes this guy angry if anything? He's a very calm, collected, and well rounded individual but anger is a big part of human nature and this guys lack of anger or triggers for anger seem to deprive him of a certain extra dimension.

I like the character overall but he seems almost too content, sounds harsh; but his personality seems almost like some sort of façade as he is just too well rounded. Other than that it all looks great.

Changes/additions:
-Show us a little of the guys personal demons (possibly expanding on his phobias, which was a nice little touch,)

-Show us the guys angry side if he has one, it will bring the character more to life I think, if not then he seems almost sociopath-like in the way he approaches life in his almost clinical manner, an interesting thing in itself maybe.

Deacon Saliti Morgan Empty Re: Deacon Saliti Morgan

Post by Eleanor Harkness Tue Sep 16, 2014 5:55 pm

Ok, so...I'm just going to take a look at the part that will usually get glossed over, as I am assuming the other mods will shred review the other sections of the sheet.

Equipment: There is a lot to say here, so on we go.

Saliti’s equipment consists primarily of firearms. Only one knife joining the line of weapons on his belt, and this is rarely used, especially outside of utility purposes. Bullet’s while carefully concealed are still within easy reach, and though he is not a walking arsenal he carries quite a store of ammunition. When on a mission, Saliti will don a bulletproof vest, reinforced with steel plating. Flexibility is prominent in the vest, however, and it does not encumber him.

How, how does he have a vest reinforced with steel plating and yet it is still "flexible"? Unless you are talking about only plates in key areas, at which point you are adding a LOT of weight and not a lot of protection, because let's face it, are you going into combat in Afghanistan, or are you taking out a vampire from Chicago? Modern day "bullet proofing" (hate hate hate that word) can protect against upwards of a .44 Mag round, which is pretty damn good, considering the next caliber up would be a .50, and in reality, who the hell carries those for personal protection? So why the plates? Why the needless weight and minimal protection? Explain.

Specifically, his weapons are as listed.

Combat knife: Saliti’s combat knife is pretty standard, its blade is curved and it’s shape is much like a small machete. Giving the option of a thrust and the ease of a vicious hack, very capable of lopping something important off. The blade is about 12 in. long, and the handle around 5 in. for a total of a 17 in. weapon. It is made of quality material, namely a high carbon steel. Which while able to rust and deteriorate over time grants it the ability to have a keen edge longer and more effectively than a blade diluted with chromium, as well as just a stronger blade in general. He makes sure to take of this blade to prevent any rusting with simple oils and cloth.

I'll let Corvis deal with the knife. Not my fight.

Guns: Saliti’s favorite weapons/possessions (of non holy nature) are his guns, by far. As such he has a wide variety of options to pick from when going in to battle. Though, since it would be a little painstaking to go through such a list, as reader and author, we will simply have to settle for a list of common gun types, and a very detailed description of just the guns Saliti will be wielding most of the time.

I am instantly worried. He can just pull a gun out of a hat? Will there be a process for obtaining a particular weapon from the True Cross, or will you just magically have what you need, on you, at the time you need it?

Such guns that he enjoys employing in combat are pistols, mainly automatic or at least semi automatic, but occasional his favorite, revolvers, and even other types of pistols still. For rifles; sniping sometimes, but mainly assault rifles. Shotguns, which while not the most practical at long ranges, (which is commonly desired by those fighting vampires), are quite the force to be reckoned with at close ranges, such shotguns might include 12 gauges, cut offs, double barrel, and repeating, all depending on the time and the place of course.   Crossbows, purely for entertainment purposes unless there is a very specific reason for him needing one. He has access to them, but indeed he does not necessarily take them nor plan to, in to combat situations. They are, obsolete, against modern weapons, and against vampires they have never really been up to the challenge of competing with them in his opinion.

All the things. All the fucking things. Mainly automatic handguns? Do you understand how incredibly limited your 1) accuracy and 2) range is with those things? Sure, they look cool and sound neat but they are useless in a fight like what you're going to see. And explain "other types of pistols".

And the shotguns, oh lord help me the shotguns. I just...

Look, it seems like this character is fantastic at close rage and medium range and long distance and I am here to tell you that 90% of "how good you are" is not whether or not you can fire the gun: it is how you think. Snipers carry handguns as sidearms and nothing else. Most boots on the ground don't snipe. Even your highly trained SpecOps guys don't switch between weapons that often; they can, but they prefer not to. Why? Because of training. Because of mentality. These people think a certain way, process information in a certain way, and each one finds a niche that tailors to their method of combat. Can you be decent at all ranges? Sure, most of those guys are. Are you going to be specialized in all of them, and be just as good with a sniper rifle as an assault rifle as a shotgun as a pistol? No.

No. You are not.

The firearms that will most often accompany Saliti are these.

Pistol: As a throw back to the good old days, the 44 Magnum revolver accompanies Saliti wherever he goes. This weapon is a monster of a gun and it’s bullet count is about 6 to each barrel. On Saliti’s person are two pre-loaded barrels for this gun, which offer him the ability to quickly reload this weapon by simply replacing the barrel instead of reloading each chamber. This weapon has been blessed with the fruits of some more modern advances, like making the ammo into exploding ammo, as well as giving the bullets the added benefit of being silver.

I don't understand what you mean by "pre-loaded barrels". Do you mean speed loaders? Need information on this amazing "exploding" ammo.

Make and model of the revolver.

Pistol: When cannons are no longer useful, and Saliti requires a bit more chaotic and speedy destruction, he will turn towards his Glock 17.  Which contains a magazine size of 17 bullets each 9x19 in caliber. He carries three magazines outside of his gun. These fall on his belt, and are normal bullets in all regards besides blessings.

Cannons? What cannons?

Ah, the Glock. And a 9mm Glock 17 at that. Personal preference for you, sure, but I am telling you there are far better guns/calibers out there. Some that do pretty spectacular damage and are much more reliable.

Pistol: Blunderbuss, (Modernized) Yes that’s right, the blunderbuss, beware. The blunderbuss is in short a handgun, which fires off a round much like a shotgun does. The blunderbuss being old however, is definitely outdated. However with a few modern touches and the element of surprise, this weapon has become quite useful to deacon Saliti. The blunderbuss is now made from quality modern gun material, and has become semi automatic. The bullets are inserted through the back much like a double barrel shotgun, in fact the ammo is quite similar to this. However, the effective range is much shorter, being about ten feet. Although the actual area of damage is significantly larger, covering about fifty percent more area than the standard shotgun blast. Such a weapon obviously releases a tremendous amount of force, which is why this is normally a two handed weapon for Saliti, but in an emergency the first shot from the blunderbuss could be fired quite effectively. Saliti carries three extra shots for his blunderbuss. All ammo for this weapon is silver and blessed. The blunderbuss has been made to look as much like a normal pistol as possible without affecting the use of the weapon, this is for the purpose of surprising one’s opponent. Especially vampires, who if they expect to only have to dodge one bullet, may not move far enough to avoid the majority of the spray.

So, wait. You fabricated a NEW blunderbuss that looks mostly like a handgun, or this is a blunderbuss that was retrofitted to look like a handgun? Either way...no. I want you to understand how big a blunderbuss is while in-hand, and just how heavy and ponderous it would be. Besides that, there is NO accuracy, there is NO time for a reload - unless it is miraculously now a semi-auto blunderbuss - and there is little reason to assume it would be anything but a hindrance in a fight.

So no. I wouldn't allow this, but that's up to the rest of the mods.

Rifle: Saliti carries a normal shotgun aside from the blunderbuss. This shotgun is what he likes to call, the bread and butter of his close range offense. The model of this weapon is an Italian Beneli M3. It holds 8 shots in it’s underbarrel tube magazine. The caliber is 21 gauge, with selective pump-action or semi auto recoil inertia operation. Staliti carries only enough ammo to refill this gun once.

Sure, why not.

Rifle: When it comes to missile capabilities which is generally what guns do best, Saliti likes to rely on the old time proven assault riffle. Namely another Italian brand, called the Beretta BM 59. This gun’s magazine capacity weighs in around 20, with 7.62x51 mm NATO Bullets. (3.08 Winchester). The rate of fire being 750 rounds a minute, it is needless to say that Staliti could release quite the barrage when he needs to. He carries 3 extra magazines for this gun when he takes it in to combat.

1960. 1960. They make much, much better rifles, with far better accuracy and range, and with more firepower. If you are trying to prove that somehow he is cool by using an outdated weapon...don't.

Also, see: battle rifle, not assault rifle if you want something else along those lines (look to the Mk14 EBR, for example.). A good assault choice would be a tried and true M4A1 or the Italian Beretta AR70/90 (against my better judgement).

So...fix this. Clean it up. Give me reasons behind all of it.

Hmm, I would say currently he has the potential for things like, inner demons, rage and such. So I'll put something in their about that, but most of this was removed from him as a whole in his early youth as he turned towards his religion for peace of mind and guidance and such. So there won't be a significant change as such. Good to see you on the boards though Gaius Wink If that is who you are, I've only heard about you from someone else. If your not Gaius my apologies, and also go die in a ditch jerk wad I thought you were my buddy XP

Brutal Meabh. Brutal, luckily, I have never claimed to know anything about guns. So I'll have to take your word for it. Smile

I heard someone mention knives.... I'm going to jump in, cause I like knives...

Spoiler:

Oh, you edited that one out... Right then, onto the other knife.

Suffered from the same problem as the other one. We need a weight on that dagger, which isn't going to be anywhere close to being light due to it's size.

Suck it XP

And it won't be light but think more miniature rapier than miniature sword when considering this dagger. The rapier was forged more densely and thin to become the ultimate piercing tool. The density equating to less vibrations and thus a more efficient transfer of energy from you to your target, the thinner blade equalling even less surface area connection which is done for the same reason. Piercing ability more efficient energy transfer yadda yadda etc. Thus why the blade will probably not be as heavy as you think. I know people can often times overestimate the weight of weapons like these. Just keep in mind that lighter Broad Swords weighed like 5 lbs. And the broadsword was made to be a heavy hitter. Albeit heavier ones could be 10 lbs. But my point still stands. Regardless I'll try to get a weight on the dagger, I'm thinking i'll just use the average parrying dagger, they were forged side by side with the rapier intended as it's match so that sounds like what I'm going for....Actually I may, switch the entire thing to parrying dagger, we will see.

Alright, regarding the knife currently in the actual sheet, I'm going to take a whack at this too.

This is just me nitpicking, but a dagger, by definition, is a weapon meant to be hidden. You're not hiding a 16 inch anything without someone noticing so I refuse to believe it's a "dagger' by that fact alone. Again, going by the dimensions you've given it, it's a short sword - it has a nearly-foot long blade and a grip big enough for two hands. That's not a dagger by any means of the word, that's something that's going to be easily recognizable even when concealed by clerical robes unless it's pressed flat against your body, which would make drawing it impractical...

The fact that this is called a dagger annoys me, but this is just a personal thing. Take my personal issues with a grain of salt.

Moving beyond my nitpicky attention to detail on that, the design, while fine if you want to use it, isn't going to help you at all in-character unless you come across someone using a sword. Cross bars, while used on traditional weapons as a guard to keep some other guy's sword from running down their own blade and chopping their fingers off, as well as maybe the occasional parry (cross guards were rarely used for that, as specific techniques were developed for parrying instead of strictly relying on the detail of the weapon itself) isn't going to be much use to you considering the time the forum is in.

No one else is walking around with swords at the moment, and the cross bar just seems like a hindering aspect that adds unnecessary weight to something that could be much lighter, more balanced and just overall better. This is just an observation, though. Take it how you will.

I'd also like to throw in a quip about the material used. High carbon steel is extremely hard, yes, but it is also very brittle. Not to glorify it, but there is a reason why Japanese Blacksmiths of old used a delicate combination of both High and Low carbon steel during the forging process of their katana. It was to keep the blade from shattering if it got hit with anything hard, as low carbon steel balanced out the brittleness aspect of the high carbon steel. If your sword - yes, it's a sword - gets hit by a blunt object swung by anyone with a decent amount of muscle, not necessarily having to be of supernatural quality, that blade is going to break.

I'd advise you to specify what else is making up that blade other than just High Carbon Steel, otherwise that sword is going to shatter the moment you got to block a sufficiently powerful blow.

That is all from me~

I know people can often times overestimate the weight of weapons like these. Just keep in mind that lighter Broad Swords weighed like 5 lbs. And the broadsword was made to be a heavy hitter. Albeit heavier ones could be 10 lbs. But my point still stands.

No. No it doesn't. You make horrible comparisons and it's obvious you've never played with knives. A knife - I mean an actual knife - would be abysmal in terms of practicality and efficiency if it weighed over a pound. The knife you previously described, the machete one, I mean, would definitely weigh over a pound, likely around two or three in addition to being severely off balanced. It might not seem like much, but for a one handed weapon it really is, especially considering how scrawny Saliti is.  I digress, however, as it's completely up to you.

Oh I'm not arguing for the earlier knife that could be as absolutely terrible as the english language in a text. I was merelygtrying to say that the dagger should not be that heavy. Then again, I'm also imagining I'd lower it it's measurements too. I agree with the practicality of a weapon heavier than a pound as far as knives go. It wouldn't be all that great. As to the cross bar, the cross bar has been invaluable to me against all kinds of melee weapons in my own spars against opponents. They are good for blocking quite a few different melee weapons in my opinion and regardless of how it was used historically its effective use for me will be decided IC with how I decide to rp with it. Though I will admit that I'm absolutely awful with measurements. I completely appreciate all the advice you've given because I am absolutely lost in that department and that will indeed translate in to some illogical and awkward sounding blades. So in short, Thank you! Please keep it up.
