Megali continued marching on while Yuu explained her tragic back story, taking note of the twinges of pain leaking into the mechanical girl's normally monotone voice.  All things considered, Megali had been blessed with a fortunate childhood.  True, her father had worked her to the brink in order to fulfill his own ambitions but it had never been particularly unpleasant for her.  She was constantly encouraged and motivated by her father's assurance that she was destined for greatness, to be the greatest of her era.  She'd wanted that desperately, more than anything else in the world.  Yuu, on the other hand, did not seem to have been as lucky.  That wasn't the face of a woman who had been congratulated and nourished to be a warrior.  That was the face of a slave.

"People are people.  They cannot become weapons, no matter how hard they try..." she paused in her response a moment as the twosome reached a fallen tree.  With a small grunt, Megali stepped over the trunk and stood by to help Yuu do the same.  "You are dragon slayer.  If you wish to not fight, none can force your hand," she said, offering her free hand as an addled point of stability while Yuu climbed over the fallen oak.

Despite the encouragement, she didn't believe any of it. This was all she was. She wasn't able to leave this life. Even if she could, there was no possible way for her to live normally with her body. She needed constant maintenance just to function. The little girl named Yuu Koutari had died long ago. There was just STRENGTH now. She said none of that, though, and vaulted the log herself, using the weight of her single arm to move over it.

Megali took Yuu's renewed silence in stride, both figuratively and literally supporting the smaller girl's unbalanced weight while they continued their hike. Having cleared the thickest portion of the underbrush, the twosome soon came across a relatively well worn walking trail through the forest, the grass having been worn away to packed dirt over the years. Taking this as a sign that her upbeat faith in their inevitable rescue had been well placed, Megali offered a reinvigorated smile of triumph towards Yuu.

The road meant they might make it to a town soon. This whole ordeal would finally be over. She had to make it back. Weapon or not, wanted or not, there was someone waiting for her right now. She'd have to make it. She continued to be led along the path, hopefully towards civilization.

(OOC) Short post is short and crappy.

No response to her latest comment. Pursing her lips, Megali mulled over the most appropriate course of action until the fingertips of her right hand brushed against the strip of the dragon's toga hanging out of her pocket. Removing the trophy from her pocket, she tore the small cloth in half before returning half of it to her pocket. "I had forgotten of our talk on your spoils." Without waiting for an answer from the mechanical girl, Megali tied the strip of cloth around the metal index finger resting across her shoulders. "I will not forget your great deeds today. With this, neither will you," she said with a noticeably softer smile.

Why did she tie a rag on her finger? To remember? It was...weird. Was this something people in other countries did? There were some tactical reasons for looting corpses, sure, but this didn't seem like one of them. Why anyone would want something like that was a total mystery to her, let alone why they would think she needed it.

She promised herself never to lose it, regardless.

While Yuu did not go so far as to show outward signs of intense gratitude at Megali's incredibly generous gift, the revived woman was prepared to let the minor insult slide....this time at least. She had at least accepted it and in the end, despite all of her strange mechanical limbs and weapons, Yuu was still just a child and she could only be held to a certain level of polite decorum. Of course, had Megali known that Yuu was far older than she appeared, things might have played out differently but lacking even the slightest education on the particulars of cybernetics, she was happily ignorant for the time being.

Proceeding down the beaten dirt path, the thick environment of trees had begun to slowly thin out and the faintest of sounds were beginning to make themselves known in the distance. Rather than the subtle chimes of forest life and nature, it was a harsher, more chaotic accompaniment that felt inherently out of place in the wilderness. Luck was continuing to shine on them following the sudden crash of their plane. Civilization was just up ahead.

Were there really people awaiting them up ahead? What would this encounter be like? How would they react to her? Would they be able to contact the base from all the way out here? These were all good questions, but right now, she only wanted rest. A metal skeleton weighs heavily on the body after several hours of walking and fighting monsters. Sleep, and hopefully things would be better when she woke up. Not better, really, but back to normal.

(OOC) Shit post is shit.

The plucky young twosome arrived in town soon after that only to be taken in for questioning by the police. Luckily for the dynamic duo, the Greek woman narrowly avoided an attempted reenactment of the film Rambo long enough for the proper authorities to be contacted. While the wait for a new ride was not as comfortable as it could have been inside a jail cell, the newly arrived government helicopter's slightly padded seats were truly a godsend. True, it took a fair bit of coaxing to force the dark haired woman into the aircraft, especially after their disastrous experience with the cargo plane, in the end the challenge was completed and all that remained was a long and boring flight home.
